COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The conception and naming of this beer happened in one fell swoop. Unsure whether to offer a light session beer or a fun ball-buster as our warm weather seasonal, we decided on a beer that would be “a big, fatty boombalatty” version of a Belgian white. And away we went, taking a recipe for a white beer and ramping up the grain bill by 50%; we dropped the amount of wheat by 75% to keep the beer rough around the edges. We bucked tradition by steering the bitterness in the direction of a pale ale, and coupling hops with coriander in the fermenter. The resulting beer gives you all the bubblegum goodness of a big Belgian, with enough crispness to cut through the sweet profile, thus making you want to sip it again and again. Dangerous, indeed!

Bottle. Hazy orange color with big white head. Aroma of spice, yeast, and light easters. The taste was the samw with malty light metalic finish. Thanks goes to whomever sent me this.

bottle. Hazy pale yellow pour...smallish white head. Sweet malt nose...yeasty, musky, and light fruits. Medium bodied with a grassy yeasty flavor....more light fruits too. The maltiness remains throughout...maintains that belgian ale flavor to the end....nice attempt at a witbier.

12 oz. bottle via trade with tytoanderso - Pours a hazy amber color with a 3/4 finger off white head that faded fairly quick. Carbonation is light with long lasting tiny bubbles. Light lacing. Aroma is spice, esters, and light yeast. Flavor is light bready malt, esters, and spice. Medium body. A good beer. Thanks Tyler.

Pours a light amber color with a decent head that disappears quickly. Spotty lacing with a good amount of carbonation. Citrus and spice with a nice palate cleansing feel. This one was hard for me to figure out. Light body, easy to drink. The alcohol is hidden well in this one. I like the name though.

12/02/2007: Fatty Boombalatty pours a cloudy, dull orange color. It has an average-size off-white to beige head that dissipates a bit quickly and leaves a thin, frothy veil. The aroma is sweet and mildly spicy with hints of lemon, bubblegum, fruits, wheat, alcohol, and some sort of spices that I can’t put my finger on... Malt and fruit are balanced by spice and hops in the flavor. The bitterness escalates in the peppery and yeasty finish. Some alcohol is also noticeable as the beer warms up, but the balance is still in check with all the other flavors. Other flavors present include various fruits, creamy wheat malt, orange, citrus zest, and hints of sweet bubblegum. The mouthfeel of this medium-bodied beer is smooth goes down quite nicely. Overall this is a pretty tasty Belgian Ale with a hoppy twist in the finish that works well for this beer.

12 fl. oz. twist-off bottle from buckybeer. Thanks for the surprise bottle Mark! I really appreciate it! Rating #34 for this beer...

In a shaker, from the bottle. A nice little Belgian with a strange name. Citrusy, a little acidic, and a nice unfiltered feel.

Dry metalic aroma. Pours golden with no head. Sweet, a little cidery, cotton candy, and a little spicy in the flavor, a little banana. Kind of weak in the flavor. Not bad.

Pours a medium slightly hazy golden with a huge lasting head. Great carbonation showering to the surface. Beautiful appearance. Aroma is medium spice, wheat, fruit zest. Flavor is also nice pepper spice, citrus zest, wheats and malt. Body was just a tad thin but overall I was quite impressed.

Clear orange with a 1/2 finger off-white head, fading to a film before too long. Aroma of Belgian yeast, coriander, some slightly off old lemons, a bit of wheat and a hint of spicy herbal hops. Flavor was more lemony with more bitter hop presence than I would’ve thought from the aroma, and after the first sip (which made me think something went wrong with this beer) things began to go together better. Orange rinds and flowery perfume makes itself apparent and dominate the flavor. Peppery hoppy semi-dry finish that is peaks at a 3 (of 10) for bitterness. Alcohol is present, but barely. Medium bodied with low carbonation. Pretty tasty--was pleasantly surprised.

Bottle: Hazy copper gold, light head and lacing. Nose of bright carbonation and yeast, grass, citrus, hay, bright citrus and grass. Wait, I already said that....and typed it. The flavor is plickery on the mouth, more grass and citrus. Nice belgian notes, interesting. Don’t ask me what plickery means, but there it is on my notebook. I was drinking, so it can’t be wrong.
