Draft at Sugar Maple. An orange-tinged amber beer. Drinks wtih a funky earthiness, mashy and musty with a nutty, malt backbone. Rich mouthfeel. (#5159, 7/6/2013)

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Orange gold pour with a small white head. Grass and line hops, might be a little stale - picking up some cardboard. Meh - I’ve had much better from this brewer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a pale orange color. With an off white head. Light hop, pine aroma. It's like a more subdued Cascade aroma. Taste is more hops and pine than expected from the smell. Good malt balance but the hops cut through. Slightly bitter finish, full bodied. Brisk, yet woodsy.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured form a bottle with a thick head. Medium piney hops and relatively strong malt underneath. Fruits and spices come through in the malt with a somewhat unexpected dry finish. A bit boozy. Decent, but not great.

Bottle @ Greg’s house picked up in the Midwest. Pours a clear, dark orange appearance with a small off white head. Sweet bready, caramel malty, a bit spicy herbal bland hoppy aroma. Strong, somewhat boozy, spicy, chewy bready, bland herbal hoppy flavor. Not very good.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle - Pours clear amber orange with a huge foamy light tan head. Nose is lots of toasty malt, orange marmalade, and some piney, grassy hops. Taste is the same, but it’s pretty boozy and bitter. Grassy and piney hops, some citrus rind, and more toasted malt. It’s pretty bitter and sharp. Smooth and fine-bubbled, pretty slick. Not all that great.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours dark copper with some head. Weak aroma of piney hops. Taste is also piney, shocked this is a double IPA...or even an IPA.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Surprised at the hate this gets. Had it on draft. Def took about 3 sips but then wow, a complex ipa.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled. Pour clear, lighter orange with a sticky off-white head. The aroma picked up fresh orange zest and piney bitterness over sweet caramel and biscuity malts.. nice and fresh, but it came across as too hot. The flavor found more of the biscuity malt and a little fruit at the core, with pine tar, orange zest, and fairly raw alcohol around.. finished spicy and warm, with a lot of fresh, tasty hops and a hit of rough boozage. Medium-bodied and lacking a bit of balance on the palate.. this wasn’t bad, but I was hoping for a little more.
