Commercial Description:
Our coffee beer is more "iced coffee" than "double-mocha-mud", more "summer quencher" than "winter warmer". I start with a brown Mexican lager to compliment the coffee of choice, "Nicaragua" (beans from the La Fem Grower’s Co-operative, roasted by Just Coffee of Madison.) I include flaked maize both for added creaminess and to appease the sun gods. Extra-warm fermentation lets the yeast create more interesting flavors (the California-common effect, or "Vapor Beer", if you speak Beer-Spanglish.) Hop bitterness is increased to offset the sweet flavor of un-brewed coffee. Whole beans are soaked in the beer during cold maturation - the alcohol extracts and retains aromatics that would otherwise be lost to hot water. You want numbers? Well, numbers you shall have: 15 degrees Plato; 37 IBU’s; 5.3% ABV.

Bottle from allendodd. Thanks for this and all the others! Pours a ruddy copper with a three-finger beige head. It laced a bit. Aroma is coffee. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is mostly coffee. There’s some dark malt underneath. Lager? Ok. But it can stand up against a lot of porters and stouts. Damn tasty ale, er lager!!!

courtesy of markwise. Pours copper, beige head. Aroma of coffee, grainy, malty. Flavor, light cofee with hints of grains, nutty palate. Nice torrefied coffee mouthfeel with a borderline chocolate presence followed by some faint bitterness. Tasty! Light in body with plenty of coffee.

12 oz bottle from Capones. Hmmm....very interesting in a good way. I read "Beer Made With 100% Fair Trade Coffee" and immediately thought STOUT, well I was WRONG. This one pours a deep reddish/mahogany brown with an average sized light beige head. Aroma was all fresh brewed coffee with just a slight malt based backbone. Medium to full body with a good dose of carbonation and a slightly creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is pretty much an iced coffee with some slight malts. This was one interesting beer and the funny thing is I don’t even like coffee but I love me some coffee beers. Whoever thought that loving beer would make me turn into a coffee drinker??

Lovely lovely nose of coffee and mild hops. Nice deep brown color. I was shocked to find out this was a lager since the malt/hop balance was so well done. The flavor is of coffee and top quality brown ale even though its a lager.

Courtesy of kiefdog. Pours clear copper with thin off white head. The aroma is a mix of smooth coffee, earthiness, a dash of cherry and maybe some oak. The taste is much the same with sweet malts, caramel malts, coffee and more sweetness from here and there. It oddly ends a bit dry.

Thanks to the Tampa Tasting Group for bringing this one. Pours caramel brown with a white head. Nose is malt, coffee, caramel, and a bit of lageriness. Flavor is similar with hints of coffee blending through. Not bad, but not my first choice.
