Bluebottle Beer is made for seafood. A seductive blend of lifted aromatics, bitterness and a citrus sting to enhance the flavours of the sea. The perfect complement to a seafood dining occasion, in fact the perfect complement to any occasion. Australiaís premier food and brewing experts have made sure of it.

Had this one during my holiday in Australia april/may 2009. Cloudy yellow colored brew. Pine, yeasty aroma. Pine, citrus, freshness, floral.

Bottle. Another average Aussie lager, canít say I see the Fusion beers around much so not sure if theyíre still brewing. This oneís very similar to the Firefly, though itís slightly more clean than the aforementioned beer.

A marginally better lager than Fusionís Firefly, but the seafood-beer angle is a furphy because you could make the same claim about any number of lagers. Poured with a solid, lasting head. The aroma presented some diacetyl and almond-marzipan notes atop bready malts. Moderate carbonation. The flavour mix is nearly all bread, with low IBUs, grassy hops and a salty finish. (330ml bottle from Liquor on Parade, Kingsford)

Promises a lot but delivers little. Pours with a small head that diminishes quickly. Light on the pallate and light on flavour.Citrus notes and aroma.

Don’t know about this being a perfect match for seafood. As a beer though, it is quite average. Aroma is a kind of skunky aroma with some sweet honey. Flavour is quite thin and slightly corn syrupy sweet that transitions to some slight citrus and slightly cardboard bitter finish.

330ml bottle. Bright golden body, small white foam. Sharp citrus hops straight up on the nose, some grainy malt in the background. Body is a bit on the watery side, dry texture, sharp carbonation. Grainy malt body, only the slightest hint of the aforementioned citrus hops from the aroma. Finishes a bit skunky, mildly bitter. Disappointing, I was expecting the "young Hunter semillion" of beers, but they’d probably have to double the hop additions for that!

Pale yellow colour with large white head. Thin watery body but short hop flavour. The joys of contract brewing, you get what you pay for :)

Bottle (330ml). Poured golden with a small, rocky, white head which was average lasting. Aroma was of sweet grainy malts with honey, cooked butter (mild) and a hint of citrus. Flavor was a very light grassy hop bitterness with sweet grainy malts, a hint of citrus, honey and a clean finish. Light bodied with lively carbonation, a dry mouthfeel, watery texture and an ok finish. I admit this was much better than I expected, not an offensive beer just lacks a bit of flavor.

Lunkie (1788) - Glen Iris, AUSTRALIA - JUN 3, 2008
Hop malt aroma with stale chemical. Clear yellow colour with poor head and lacing. Bitter malt hop flavour with stale chemical aftertaste. Fizzy palate.
