500ml bottle. Pours golden straw colour with a decent white head. Mild and pleasant sharp cereal aroma. Flavour is quite sweet to begin, the grain comes across well, some tropical fruit, moves to sour grapefruit and a good bitter finish. Well balanced and delicious.

500ml bottle bought at Oliver’s The Delicatessen in Central.

Translucent light golden straw colour with cloudy dusty yeast sediments; Half finger head and thin white foam which last for about 40 seconds; Small sticky lacing with active carbonation; Fragrant aroma of grapefruit, floral and light honey; Light, astringent sweet taste of grapefruit, lemon, molasses, ale malt, orange peel, bitter lime and grass; Light body, watery palate; Taste profile is dominated by quite fresh grapefruit, citrus and light orange peels, wrapped around by astringent hops; Sweetness is quite low and malt taste is low key; Quite strong hoppiness throughout, with decent grapefruit and floral nose, citrusy taste, and pronounce but somewhat low key bitterness. Long astringent finish. Okay; Pretty dry after taste, slightly bitter to mouth.

Comments: This one is inevitably compared to my favourite Celt Experience’s Blonde Ale series: it’s nowhere near the freshness and expressiveness of the excellent Celt Silure, or even match the moderate hoppiness of its 2nd fiddle, Celt Golden. This one is relatively low in hop freshness, lacking in body and taste, and bitterness is more like a Bitter than hopped-up micros. I am in no way saying this is poor, but I prefer something daring, more colourful and more in-your-face micros like those by Celt Ex.

UPDATED: NOV 24, 2014 500ml bottle. Very slightly hazy, pale golden colour with a white head which retains quite well. Biscuity, citrusy aroma which follows through on the palate. This is a well hopped beer but with a decent biscuity malt background. Very smooth.

Straw, slightly dark gold, brilliant rocky white head, smallest touch of cloudiness. Citrus, lemon, zest, sweet sherbet and bready malt in the aroma. Flavour follows the nose, sweet malt, buckets of citrus, big biscuit malt backbone. Decent amount of bitterness towards the finish. Finish gets sweeter as it warms with touches of biscuity caramel. Lightish body, soft carbonation, easy drinking this and very nice.

500ml bottle from The Real Ale Warehouse, drunk 03/05/13. Straw-gold. Pours thick, white head, lasting very well. Med carb. Aroma - Nice, rich, complex citrus. Lots of citrus aromas, as well as grass and bit of spicy hop resin. A sort of fizzy, sherbet lemon aroma too, which is pleasantly interesting. Lightly toasty, grainy pale malt. Taste - Mid sweet, lightly toasty, grainy malt, bit caramel. Lovely, juicy citrus flavours; lemon oil. Tangy citrus freshness & spicy hop. Pleasant, light bitter finish; refreshing, with a slight, spicy lemon oil taste on tongue. Nice balance. Body is mid, with a bit of oilyness & lightly fizzy. A very pleasant, drinkable and tasty pale ale; ideal for summer drinking, with plenty of citrus.

Cask at CBC Islington. It pours golden yellow with a medium white head. The nose is pale malt, pithy citrus, grapefruit and nectarine. The taste is grapefruit, pithy citrus, cereal, hay, light resin, wood and nice level of bitterness with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Nice hippy golden.
