3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 MartinT (6350) - Montreal, - JUN 9, 2011
My Bottom Line:
This crisp Golden Ale’s herbal hop resins produce enough bitterness to balance out a swift pale malt brush, creating yet another fine quaffer for this brewery.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam skirts the pale blond.
-It’s rather amazing to this Canadian that one brewery can bottle three Golden Ales which are quite similar, but when they are all this impressive, I guess it’s impossible to complain.
-The finishing hop bitterness is quite lengthy.
-This is another Kellerbier-like flavor profile from Fyne Ales. Num num.
-No need for complexity when you’ve got such a wonderful presentation of straightforward coupled with high drinkability.
-Hops are also citrusy once in a while.
Bottle.

Cask by handpump at Last Post, Paisley (26 May 12) - part of battle of the brewers between Houston, Fyne and Sulwath - clear pale yellow ale, creamy white head, citrus hop aroma, good temperature, lemony, quite high carbonation, refreshing

Cask at cloisters. Pale golden amber, creamy white head. Biscuit malt, big grapefruit hop nose. Hint of citrus. Sweet malt front, bready, juicy fruity hop, grapefruit and pineapple perhaps. Smooth bitter linger. Surprisingly full bodied. Excellent beer.

Pours a really watered down lemonade, but it had a nice head on it while it lasted. The aroma is pleasant, grassy hop with really light citrus smells, a little bit of a biscuit malt. Taste has the same hops as in the smell. Its grassy and faint lemon notes, little bit bitter. There’s a little bit of bready flavour. Bitterness lasts through to the finish, and the mouth feel is fitting. Really light and matches the carbonation of the beer really well. Obviously at 4.5% there’s no alcohol in the taste. I’m pretty confident I could down a 500ml bottle in about 5 minutes without noticing it, if I was out somewhere. It’s pretty much just the epitome of refreshing well done blond ale. There’s not a whole lot going on, but what is in there is put together well. on the down side… kinda looks like pee…
