This is a strong traditional ale with intense malt flavours and a citrus hop aroma. A very smooth beer with a well-rounded, distinctly "moreish" finish.

(Cask at Gallows Bird, 20120908) The beer poured deep amber and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had hops, fruitiness, toffee and malts. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were hops, fruitiness, malts and bitterness. Afertaste was hoppy and bitter. A very good hoppy bitter.

Cask at the Malt and Hops. Golden Orange with a white head. Aroma of hay and cardboard. Flavour has lots of malty sweetness and a grapefruit bitterness to finish.

Gnarly. 1/2 pint on tap. Sickly sweet smell, but it don’t taste sweet. Kind of ugly appearance, clear amber, nasty looking. Ugh!

Malty, slightly sweet, with some dry hop bitterness in the finish. Nice enough session beer, though a comedown from their much superior Jarl.

Aroma: Not easy to detect. Malty with a musty citrus aroma.

Appearance: Clear, amber body. Thin white head that slowly dissipates. Excellent lacing.

Taste: Emphasis is on the lightly roasted malt. The finish has a lemony, slightly sour flavour. Simple, but moreish.

Palate: Light to medium body. Thin mouthfeel. Lively carbonation.

Overall: Well balanced and drinkable, however, it’s a tad watery. It’s a good bitter, but Jarl, Hurricane Jack and Avalanche from Fyne Ales are better.

Bottle from Alesela
Dark amber, big frothy white head, clear, some lacing
Aroma of soft citrus hops, caramel malts, hint of lemon
Taste of quite rich caramel malts, some bready malt, soft citrus hops, some lemon, bit of toffee, well balanced, good flavour
Palate soft carb, medium body, texture bit oily, smooth caramel malts with citrus tang. Finish as main flavour with some more soft bitter citrus
Overall - Well made good beer - I liked this one

50cl bottle, BBE 08/2012. Poured dark golden with a frothy, lacing, great looking head. Aroma is citrus, hops and malt. Flavor is more toasted, nicely fruity and hoppy, decent bitterness. Nice body for this ABV. Enjoyable.
