Poured light golden with a small white froth. Aroma of zesty citrus hops and soft malt. Light body, flavour is tart citrus, lemon, pine, underlying biscuity malt. Lingering refreshing bitterness.

Draft. Straw yellow, with a small off white head. Light grassy and citrus aroma. A session ale, with a thin-ish body to match. But a taste that delivered much more than the body and aroma promised: lemongrass, grapefruit, some gentle florals. Perfect for a long summer afternoon. (And it went down very well on a wet January evening, too!)

500ml bottle from Galvin’s, Bandon Rd. Pours a slightly hazy straw yellow/golden with a thin frothy white head. Aroma is quite lemony, quite grassy, with some very delicate floral notes also. A little sharp on the nose, somewhat lagery. The taste is better, with initial light malty sweetness which has a certain sugary character to it, medium citrus bitterness, with more pronounced floral notes and quite a clean bitter bite. Slightly dry finish with a lemony aftertaste and some grainy hints, with soft carbonation. Overall, it didn’t give a great first impression and wasn’t quite as good as I recalled from my first experience of it a few years back, but still a tasty brew, particularly for the ABV!

Gedronken met benzai en dutchdrebus. Pilskleurig met een witte schuimkraag. Ruikt hoppig, fris en naar loempia’s. Smaakt hoppig, fris, citrus, "lemon grass". Voor dit alc. perc. best wel goed.

Benzai (7340) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - DEC 19, 2013
Bottle shared with Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah @ weekly tasting. Clear yellow golden color, medium sized white head. Nice aroma of hops, lightly malts, lemongrass, very fresh. Taste lightly malts, lightly a touch of fruits, hops, nicely bitter, lemongrass. Medium body, average carbonation. Superb session ale.

Bottle @ benzai. Slightly hazy pale yellow colour with a small to medium sized white head. Smells malts, hops, grassy, slightly plastic. Tastes quite malty, cardboard, some hops, slightly grassy. Nice body considering the abv, aoft carbo.

14/12/2013 Ma che siete venuti a fà (handpump). Bevuta a Birre Sotto l’Albero. Dorata, paglierino, lievemente torbida, schiuma bianca molto abbondante e persistente. Al naso malto, biscotto, note fruttate, deciso agrumato, pungente. In bocca è luppolata decisa, leggero attacco di malto, quindi finale abbastanza persistente amaro, secco e pulito. Corpo leggero, carbonazione soft. Ha una buona personalità, non male.
