stravale (2701) - Near Carrick-on-Shannon, IRELAND - JUL 11, 2012
Cask @ Golden Rule, Edinburgh 100712
Dark amber red, slight haze, creamy white head, good lacing
Aroma - citrus tropical hops, sweet caramel malts, floral notes
Taste - tropical fruit hops, mango, bit of pineapple, biting zest, backbone of quite rich caramel malts, some gooseberry
Palate - soft carb, medium body, bitter zesty, quite sticky, smooth mouthfeel. Finish - bitter, a little astringent, zesty hoppy finish, bitter tail.
Overall - A bit over astringent and not totally convinced of the balance between malts and hops, but itís a good flavoured beer which I enjoyed,
