Cask. Dark amber body, offwhite head. Aroma of nice balanced malts and hoppiness. Bit roasted flavour. All the way this is balanced. Very nice bitter.

Bottled. Dark brown cola colour, nice head and lacing. Mild aroma. Strong malt, subtle hop flavour, a hint of tobacco and smoke, chocolate. Long bitter but well balanced aftertaste. A superbly balanced Scottish-style ale.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
(Cask at Gallows Bird, 20120908) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had caramell, toffee and malts. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, liquorice, tartness and bitterness. Aftertaste was roasty and bitter. Perhaps this cask had gone bad.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500 ml bottle, from a potential importer. ABV is 4.2%. Deep copper to chestnut colour (if this beer was a horse, the colour would be called "bay"). Large off-white head. Nice aroma of ripe Nordic fruits and berries, hints of blackcurrant leaves, also notes of toffee, sweet biscuits and caramel malts. The flavour is malty but not too sweet, mild roasty notes, some fruit, also biscuits. Dry and "dusty" English hops in the finish.

Gift from the Scotsman / bottled. Ehh. I dunno, It was thin, and kind of plain. It had some nice roasted malt elements and a nice caramel aroma , but over all just bland.

Bottle at Björn, thanks.
Long lasting beige head. Red-brown color. Strange aroma that goes towards english breakfast tea. Big bitterness and some caramell maltiness. No residual sweetness.
