3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500 ml bottle at home, poured into a Guinness pint. ABV 4.2%
Beautiful coloue, a deep ruby red or maybe a light amber brown, however you look at it, against the light or not, it has some really attractive hues. One finger of off-white head, soapy, eith good retention and medium lacing left on the glass.
Aroma of caramel and toffee, light roasted malts, cookie dough.
Taste is of malts, red fruits, quite bitter from the beginning, with good, long duration. Caramel again, less toffee now, a touch of mildly bitter coffee on the aftertaste.
Medium thin body, nice carbonation.
Overall pretty good bitter!

Cask at Bow Bar, Edinburgh. Pours a dark amber colour with a slightly off white head. Aroma isn't huge bit there's a maltiness there. Light to medium body, a bit thin. A dry toastiness with a touch if bitter marmalade and grapefruit. OK.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from the brewery and cask at CP&K. It pours clear amber-brown with a thick off-white head. The nose is wood, leather, earth, toast, brown bread and touch of caramel. The taste is toasty, earth, wood, leather, light bitterness, nut and caramel with a clean, dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A classic, well-executed bitter.

Bottle. Dark amber, like well brewed tea. Thick offwhite, light tan head. Malt smells, some tea, some caramel, some nuts. Bready and caramellic in the mouth with a nice amount of bitterness. Very "solid" drink this, with some nice warm roasty malts and bitters.
