Bottle from the Hive. Dark dark ruby brown, big tan collapsing head. Malts and light hops, faint pine. Sweet orange and slightly lactic with chocolate undertones. Soft carbonation, long bitter sweet finish. A very soft and approachable BIPA, but I prefer more heft.

33cl bottle @ home from Edinburgh. Body is clear, dark brown, Head is medium, fizzy, brownish, average lasting, fair lacing. Nose is light citrus, Aroma is tea, toast, resin, hops, leaves. Taste is light to medium sweet, medium to heavy bitter. Finish is medium lasting medium roasty medium hoppy bitter, later more hoppy. Medium to full body, quite thin texture, average carbonation. Easy black IPA, good one.

Bottle from Ales By Mail. Pours pitch black with a big creamy tanned head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and resiny hops. Taste is moderate dry, coffee and fruity hops, more like an dry stout than BIPA.

Sampled from a bottle purchased in Edinburgh (thanks Rory and Rachel!). Pours black with a good tan head. Malt and citrus aromas. The taste has plenty of roasted malts, with the associated coffee and chocolate flavours, but mixed in with grassy and bitter hops. There is a distinct, astringent gooseberry/grapefruit flavour along with the charred malt taste. It is a bit like the flavour of a slightly caramelised baked grapefruit, if you can imagine such a thing. An interesting and original beer, but I find the roasted flavours do not combine particularly well with the more citrusy notes.

Bottled. Toasty, dry black IPA. Lightly roasted. Enjoyable stuff but lacks complexity. A touch of golden syrup.

Fine malted smell. Good taste at first, but there are much after-taste, which leave it a little bit boring. Nice dark/black color.

Bottle from the brewery. Pours mahogany with a good foamy cream head. Pine in the aroma and flavour, but not overly prominent. Plenty of roasty flavour. Creamy coffee and a little liquorice. Enjoyable.

Bottle. Green hoppy aroma of grass, gooseberry and citrus. Soft, creamy mouthfeel luckily dominating the astringent bitterness, with a pleasant maltiness providing the beer with notes of earth, chocolate and forest fruit. Quaffable and tasty.
