3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Good bitter ipa, that uses a less flowery hop than often is used. This a fine black ale, with good bitter aftertaste. Also roasted chocolate and malts.

Bottle. Light roast and fruit aroma. Juicy fruit flavour with a little roast and choc to finish. Refined and elegant.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours black with ruby hints. Creamy aroma with some wood, earthy notes. Smooth mouthfeel with a mild bitterness on finish. This is like a sweet milky stout rather than a hoppy black ipa. Some smokiness in there too. Nice but not exactly what it says on the tin.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Classic IPA in a classic looking bottle. Hops with a bit of coffee and some rye. Drinkable, high aromatic and solid piwo. Still not rocket science but a fine one.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from BenH - many thanks to you! The Black IPA pours out in a deep black colour with low creamy steady head and medium body. Nice aroma ofdark roasted hops and spices. Taste of mild hops, nuts, spices, herbs, spruce and light honey. Medium bitter finish with a nice but too gentle hoppiness. Nice Black IPA but could be even better.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Floral, slightly malty aroma. Pleasant. I’m not sure how black a black IPA is so I can’t comment on the appearance. Nice taste, not too hoppy which I appreciate (yes I’m a philistine). Smooth on the palate. Very pleased with this beer - will be picking up the sister beer next time!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(bottle, 33cl) Dark brown colour with a beige and short foamy head. Roast-malty aroma with notes of dark chocolate, bread crust, liquorice, accompanied by piney and subtle fruity hops. Moderately roasty bitter and slightly sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Roasty malt-character with notes of dark chocolate, liquorice and mocha; a mildly sweet malty touch shows up towards the moderately roasted and piney hoppy finish. Nice little Black IPA. 20.XII.13

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Deep ruby-amber coloured, small and stable loose tanned head, dry grapefruity and herbal hoppy nose with an even drier roasty background; moderate to solid dryish bitter flavour with a slight residual sweetness, a light acidity barely detectable, light to medium bodied, relatively soft; lingering dryish hoppy and roasty finish. Good, but not completely convincing…

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Beer Central, Sheffield. Clear, very dark red. Thin, tight, creamy white head. Aroma is all dark malt. Light, roast coffee. Hint of liquorice. Hint of chocolate, too. Lots going on. Taste is where the IPA bit kicks in. Dry, fairly bitter. A little dark chocolate sweetness. Fairly full bodied. Dry, bitter finish. Decent.
