Bottle from Firma Bier, large sample. Dark color, medium frothy head. Aroma of roasted malts, bit laurel, slight licorice, blackcurrant, dark fruit. Feels really ’british’. Soft velvety mouthfeel, earthy hops. Malty bitterness in taste, laurel, roast. Quite dry. Good. Would love to see this from cask in a pub.

On tap @Brewdog Bar Roma. Pours deep brown with a good beige foam. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, nice. Flavour is quite well balanced, medium sweet with a decent bitter end. Medium body, medium carbonation. Ok.

Pours a dark brown with a big off white head. Aroma is roasted malts with hints of coffee. Flavour has some fruit notes hidden behind the roasted malts and hints of chocolate and coffee.

Smooth and fresh beginning. Dry, smooth and mild. Nice. Not too deep, fresh and mild with a nice and easy to drink dry stout body.

Cask at the GBBF 2015. High fluffy lasting yellow head. Pitch black body. Odd vedgetable sour aroma with weak hints of coffee. Nice coffee c aramel flavor wtih a good dela of hops bitterness, low carbonation and a long bitter finish.

Cask at GBBF 2015. Pretty orange-red-drk brown with a huge head. Roasty, mineral nose, wood, cocoa, coffee grounds, a bit dull. Sweet and minerally, leafy and herbal, coffee, bitter, licorice. A bit weird to me. Very bitter, a bit thn. Strange stout. Herbs?

[Scottish Real Ale Festival, Edinburgh, 2015] - Fyne Ales Sublime Stout, 6.8% (Stout). Dark brown with red reflexes. Small fluffy beige head. Dark chocolate, licorice, sour coffee beans and a wee bit of floral notes on the nose. Medium to full body, oily minimal carbonation. Gingerbread, dark fruits and roasted malts at the start. More bitter towards the middle due said roasted malts, but there is still a red fruit note in the background. Some aniseed, too. Finish is roasted malts, mostly, with a wee vanilla note softening the experience. Bitter coffee in the aftertaste, soft sweet note accompanying.

750ml Bottle at Home bought from Cotteridge Wines last year, drank whilst watching Friday the 13th on Netflix. As you do. Poured a clear black with beige head of good size. Carbonation medium to start with. Aroma of Roasted malts, and a liquor nose. Taste is roasted malts, hints of chocolate, cocoa, liquor, the taste got more in depth the further down the bottle. I had this beer on tap last year before rating but this was far better in the bottle, probably from the aging. Top Stuff.
