3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
330 ml bottle.
Pours a black colour with a beige head which settles quite quickly. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, biscuit and some cream notes. Rich flavour of roasted malts, dark chocolate, raisins, roasted coffee, wood and high bitterness. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel and a warming, lingering bitter, wooden finish. Lingering bitterness just keeps going and going with only a hint of alcohol. Excellent.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap @ Borefts ’13. Almost black colour with no head. Smells roasty, coffee, chocolate and a bit salty. Tastes roasty, chocolate and coffee. Thin body, low carbo.
Could use more body to get a fuller and probably better taste imo.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle, Coppers, Newcastle. Pours a beautiful deep jet black, with a dark coffee coloured head. Rich chocolate and leather aromas and flavours, traces of woodsmoke, sherry and vanilla. Exceptionally well balanced with a bittersweet finish that lingers nicely. Doesn’t drink like a 6.9% beer, up there with their sublime stout, one of my favourites of this year.
