3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Glouglouburp (5562) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 25, 2012
In short: A fruity and slightly floral golden IPA. Refreshing
How: From the tank at brewpub, given to me by the brewer because they were out at Gaasa so I got to try a batch that was going to be delivered to Gaasa two days later
The look: Partly cloudy rusty-golden body topped by a medium off-white head
In long: Nose is mostly fruity with hops fruitiness and other fruity esters joining in, I noted peaches, grapefruits, mangos. Also a floral component to the aroma. Taste is toasted chewy malts, light presence of caramel, plenty of fruity hops with floral notes. This one did not have the highly aromatic and vibrant qualities of Schouskjelleren’s other hoppy beers. Brewed for the Gaasa pub (very nice pub btw) and seems to me that Schouskjelleren made a more accessible IPA. A very nice beer even if I had much better IPAs at Schouskjelleren, nonetheless a pretty good beer to celebrate a 30th birthday anniversary, not mine though, I’m older than that, some other people, certainly a lot of people, but nobody I know though.

On tap @ Gaasa. A hazy orange body with a small off-white head. Nice citric aroma with peaches and grapefruit. Flavor is sweet caramel malty with citric fruit and nice bitterness. Very refreshing. Medium body and bitter aftertaste. A nice IPA, less yeasty than a few of the Schouskjelleren IPAs tends to be.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tfredvik (630) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUN 29, 2012
Hazy to cloudy medium amber body with a decent, creamy, long-lived, off-white head, good lacing. Lovely and strong fruity aroma with mango and peach. Light sweet taste with a heavy to moderate bitter long-lasting fruity finish. In addition to the mango and peach found in the aroma, the strong flavours includes grapefruit. Not the most extreme IPA I’ve had, but a very nice one that is true to the style.
