3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheGrandMaster (2335) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - AUG 1, 2011
Draught at Brasserie 4:20 (Rome). A great example of the West Coast style, which a high drinkability. The ladies loved it, and that is high praise indeed.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 KnutAlbert (5186) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUL 5, 2011
On tap at Olympen, Oslo. Hazy amber. Strong malty base. Herbs, mint. Fruity.
The hops are in control, pushing the maltiness to the back. Very crisp finish.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Scopey (3239) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 27, 2011
Tap at CP&K. It pours hazy light orange, with a very thin off-white head and low fizzy carbonation. The nose is orange, mango, pineapple and resin. The taste is tangy orange, mango, grass, pine and resin, with a long tangy-bitter dry finish. Medium bodied and oily mouth-feel. Well balanced and very drinkable.
3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Kestral (505) - Årnes, NORWAY - JUN 15, 2011
Tap@Schouskjelleren. Light golden yellow with a dense creamy white head. Lovely large soap bubbles on top, sticky lacing clinging to everywhere. When I got the glass I could smell it from down on the table top. When I got it up close though, it wasn’t as intense as I thought it would be. It’s got a gorgeous tropical fruity aroma with apricots, peach, grapefruit, watermelon. Some caramel. A tiny bit dusty. It also kinda smells chalky or milky in a way. All the fruitiness does turn it a tiny bit perfumy, but it’s still a fantastic aroma. Flavourwise, it’s surprisingly mellow. I thought this would be pretty damn bitter. Moderat bitterness in the finish, which is a little bit thin. Some butterscotch. A bit of a letdown after the aroma. Carbonation is sparse, body is light to medium. It feels a bit dead and flat, like the wierd chalky like tap water in Denmark and England. it’s a bit of a wierd one. Incredible aroma, but the flavour lets it down. It feels a bit muddy. Drinks a bit like a peach milkshake would have. Enjoyable, but with room for improvement.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Benzai (4332) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - JUN 15, 2011
Had this beer at Alvinne Craft Beer Festival 2011. Very bright color. Smell and taste a little too sweet for an IPA. Smell almost fruity.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Brandman (1440) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAY 25, 2011
Draught at Brasserie 4:20. Orange body, white head. Fruity clear aroma. Hops have some unpleasant aroma, same that in Stone’s beers. Dark hops maybe? Piney. Nice bitterness, some sweetness to support hops. For today’s standard IPAs this is nicely on low hopped, not overhopped, side which helps the beer itself come out very well.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Koelschtrinker (8473) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 23, 2011
Angenehmer Hopfengeschmack, der nur wenig trocken und gelungen weich ist. Fruchtig, blumig, dezent süß. Ausgewogen, sp auch süffig. Zum Ende etwas bitterer, insgesamt aber schwach. Herbes, fruchtiges Finish. Leicht trinkbares und erfrischendes Bier. 12/12/11/12//12

Tap at Olympen. White film on a clear golden body. Peach, sweat, mango and american hops aroma. Fruity, bitter and acidic flavors. Full body. Juicy. Lasting bitterness.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 larsga (5324) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 7, 2011
Medium white head. Slightly hazy yellow body. Floral tropical fruit and chalk aroma with cat’s pee and earth notes. (Simcoe?) Something sweet and musty in this aroma, too. Dry-sweet tropical fruit and strawberry taste with resiny citric notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, chalky mouthfeel. Dry-sweetish floral tropical fruit aftertaste with wooden resiny notes. Quite nice, but a bit sweet and musty. Not very fresh. (0.4l draft at Olympen, Oslo.)
