4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 depruis (12) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - NOV 6, 2010
Bought from Eddy Gadds in 2009. Smoky, raisins and coffee(Nescafe) aroma, Deep red-brown color with a fine brown-white head frothy head. The taste is dry, bitter chocolate, wood and smoky whiskey with a nice ’soft’ bitter dry aftertaste. Full body with special whiskey taste which makes this beer a topper for me! Luckily a medium carbonation. One of my favorites

Bottle brought home from Pig’s Ear 09.
Smoky whisky aroma, strong sour smoky flavour. Pleasant porter in the background, but it is not quite up to the whisky challenge. Dry, oaky finish.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ungstrup (23984) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 9, 2009
Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of smoke, infections, wood, and whiskey- hmm - what’s going on here??? The flavor is sweet with notes of smoke, tar, wood, roasted malt, alcohol, and whiskey - quite astringent, leading to a dry, alcoholic, smokey, and woody finish. A bit of my scale. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.
