Bottled at chriso´s. Near black, small head. Fruity coffee aroma. Mid sweet with medium body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Mid intensity flavour of chocolate and prunes, some ashy bitterness.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jackl (756) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 3, 2011
Cask. Very dark color, with little head. The aroma’s sweet, roasted malts abound. The taste is sharp, metallic and salty, but finishes rather sweet. Certainly not your run of the mill stout. This stout’s very slick and oily on the tongue. Overall, a strange beer. I appreciate it, but wouldn’t have it regularly.

Bottle: Almost black, small tanned head, rural leathery nose, traces of chocolate underneath; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied as expected; dry malt-bitter finish, dark malt and chocolate included. Not great.....

(Cask @ The Man Of Kent, Rochester). This is an attractive stout both to look at and drink . I felt lots of Black Forest Gateau like flavour. Kinda tart and with dry roast. Good construction in this.

Cask conditioned handpump Criterion Leicester. A black beer with a good whitish head. Pretty delicious. The milky and malty aroma doesn’t foretell the wonderful warming oatmeally taste. Salty. A long finish. Would have liked it a degree or two cooler but there are some lovely flavours in this.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 wheresthepath (1087) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAY 27, 2011
[330ml bottle from The Bottleneck, Broadstairs] Deep ruby-black with a moderate tan head. There’s a slight fizz but a smooth, rich, creamy mouthfeel. Plain chcolate dominates at first, followed up by a strong (but not too burnt) roastiness. Port, liquorice and blackberries develop, and there’s a spicy kick in the finish. An interesting and complex stout that’s a delight to drink. Nice one!

Sehr weicher und überaus milder Malzantrunk, etwas süß. Süffig, weiterhin sehr weich, selbst die aufkommende Bitterkeit ist mild. Cremig, interessant. Danke an DerDoppelbock für das Bier! 10/9/10/10/10/10

Gravi-cask at the Planet Thanet beer festival. It pours near black with ruby highlights and a thin foamy tan head. The nose is sweet caramel, toffee, sesame seed, soy, seaweed and some dark fruit. The taste is toffee, sea salt, cherry, charcoal, wood, grass, toast, varnish, filter coffee and cardboard, with a long-bitter finish. Interesting, but overall it’s too unbalanced to enjoy.
