3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On cask in the Wildeman. Poured deep black with very little head. Aroma of very dark chocolate and some roast malt. Quite weak bodied, but the flavour of chocolate, coffee and roast malt with a hint of liquorice more than compensate.

Cask @ In De Wildeman. Deep dark color, but not quite opaque. No head to speak of. Aroma’s: roasted/gebrand, sweet drop/licorice, cocoa. Flavor is medium sweet, roasted. Body is medium. Still quite some carbonation. Finishes fairly dry, roasted (some ash) and medium bitter. Really nice.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at home in London. Pours clear, red-brown with a small, beige foam head. Dry, ashy roast nose. Light to medium sweet flavor, more ash, light roast, light baking cocoa, mellow earthy bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Semi-dry finish with plenty of baking cocoa, restrained roasted malts, some dried cherries, light bitterness. Very pleasant stout, though certainly not a super complex beer.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasted on tap @Grove Inn, Huddersfield, on 03/11/2012.
Pours sticky black with a lovely 1/2 inch beige head.
Aroma is faint, roasted malts.
Mouthfeel is a bit silky smooth, medium-to-low carbonation level.
Taste is just normal, no surprises, medium acidic, again roasted tones and a hint of vanilla in the back.
An ok beer, definitely could be better for its 6,2% alc.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (Botle Shop, Canterbury) batch 200OS02 bottled 10may2012, bb+1y.
Sweet roast, touch of choc and some ligher esters in the aroma. Some sharpness too. Jet black, large tight spongy head. Full sweet refreshing palate, pleasantly crisp carbonation. Both a sweet chocolatey side to the roast, but also a little bit of dryness and stale coffe later. Some mineraliness in places fleetingly, and the estery side fortunately stays. Covers 6.2% well, doesn’t seem stronger than a sessionable one. Finish is mostly chocolate malts. Full and lush - very nice.

Opaque black beer. Mild dark malt nose. Quite a crisp palate for a stout. Light as well. A little lactose sweetness well blended with the dark malt. Not dry or bitter. Fresh tasting and minerally. More Porter than Stout for me but light and drinkable.
