3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 fata2683 (2103) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - MAR 21, 2009
bottle, pours black with a thin light tan head. Cocoa, dark malt, and a slight sourness. Dark malt, a smokeyness, and a lightly sour/salty finish, maybe a little briney. Carbonation is low with a silky mouthfeel. I think the oysters are more pronounced in this that other oyster stouts I’ve had and it’s nice.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ober (2260) - Bommelerwaard, NETHERLANDS - FEB 6, 2009
An almost black colored beer, with a thick dark beige head. The aroma of chocolate, fruits like blackberries, some coffee and roasted malts. The taste of chocolate, roasted malts, dry bitter. The flavor is a little salty. The aftertaste is a little bitter and some dry. The salty taste makes thirsty.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 SHIG (2707) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - JAN 19, 2009
Bottle: Poured a light black with brown head. Aroma is vinegar and musty. Taste was dingy water with roasted malt and coffee. Possibly a bad bottle?

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 beerguy101 (4924) - Newark, California, USA - MAY 4, 2008
Tasted at the February Northern California Beer Tasting. This stout pours a deep black color from the bottle. Small to medium sized tan head. Aroma is chocolate, molasses and a touch of smoke. A medium bodied stout. The malts are roasty and fruity. The hops are earthy. Kind of a subtle stout, there are a lot of flavors here some anise and smoke and the roasted malts. Seems to be a bit of saltiness as well. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MesandSim (7109) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 26, 2008
UPDATED: JUL 23, 2008 A Mes rate: Bottle at Chris_O’s Ha Ha Ha Ha Gimme the Cheese Tasting. Black with a slim tan head. Big rich chocolate malt, good toasty notes, slightly oily and roasted. Lacking a little in the body. Decent fruity finish. A little one dimensional but decent enough.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 harrisoni (10070) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - APR 25, 2008
Bottle at Chris_o’s The Wolf tasting. I really am going to have to get some more of this from the brewery. Very deep ruby colour with thin tan head. Good roasted malt, very deep and rich, rather lovely. Good in mouth, rich thick and excellent.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 GG (1980) - NorCal, California, USA - FEB 26, 2008
NorCal Feb ’08 - I don’t know much about this beer, unfortunately, since it was brought to the tasting by Phil_L, and there’s not much to go off of. The beer poured out a deep black color, slightly oily looking with a nice two finger dark tan head. Aroma was roasted malts, light molasses, a bit of smoke. Mouthfeel was medium bodied, not quite heavy enough I thought. Flavor was dark chocolate, roasted malts, a touch of light fruit and ansise. Oddly, no oysters in either the flavor or aroma. Maybe that’s a good thing?
