Cask, The Salmon, Leicester. Near black with a beige foam. Aromas are earthy coffee with gritty dark chocolate and hints of liquorice. Some lactose with burnt toast and coal. Flavours are bittersweet coffee and dark chocolate with berries and a nutty roast character. Creamy with toffee and hints of smoke. Good.

On bottle from Beermerchant a while back. Pitch black color, massive offwhite foam ( and it had been standing still for weeks)- high carbonation. Aromas of coffee, leather, licorice and malt- lighter dried fruits; medium aroma intensity. Good bitterness and balance. Very enjoyable

7/IX/14 - 33cl bottle from 5de Gents Bierfestival @ home - BB: 12/VI/14, bottled: 12/VI/13 (2014-971)

Clear dark brown to black beer, huge creamy beige head, very stable, adhesive. Aroma: fruity, hops, bit soapy, sweet, some caramel. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sweet, some caramel, roasted, mocha, sweet touch, but also fruity bitter hops, citrus, bit floral. Aftertaste: mocha, coffee, hops, citrus, little sour, bit grassy, could pass as a Black IPA, I think, though the kind of BIPA that leans more towards stout than towards IPA.
