Very dark brown, dense white head, light lacing
Aroma of soft roasted malt, some dark sweet fruits
Taste of roasted malts, touch of yeast, soft burnt notes, some dark fruit malts, sticky dark fruits, bit smoky, quite complex, but not a big fan of the flavour
Palate - Medium body, quite sticky, ligth sweet, more bitter. FInish a bit dry.
Overall - It’s well made, but I found it a bit hard going tbh

Cask, 1/2 pint, hand-pulled, Counting House, Glasgow (29 Feb 2016), roasted malty, chocolate aroma, dark brown with an off-white head and intermittent lacing, chocolate, roasted malty, oily, moderate bitterness, good carbonation.

Very dark with off white head. Aroma malty with cream. Taste as it looks. Decent strength and nice on palate. Very moreish.

Pint at Old Wetherspoons, Durham. Dark with an off-white head. Aroma of burnt malt and warm milk. The taste is similar to the aroma; roasted malt and cream.

Cask@imperial, Walsall. Dark brown beer withmedium head and good lacing. Aroma of roasted malts. Taste is roasted malts, some charcoal, dark fruit and a hint of chocolate. Good.

Pours a dark brown almost black colour with a plum purple tinge, a loose frothy beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, some hops and smokiness, a bit subdued. A bitter roasted malt, ashy taste, and long bitter finish.

Cask at The Railway, Putney as ’Gadds Dogbolter’. Black with a red hue, bubbly tan head leaves thick lacing. Aroma is airy, some smoke. Body is rounded, quite light, soft carbonation. Taste is smokey and roasted with charcoal biscuits and dark chocolate. A touch of fruity ester, some resin and apple. Quite dry and toasty. Finishes pretty aggressive bitter and dry. Decent but not easy to drink.

Cask at the Crosse Keys (JDW), City of London. Deep reddish chestnut with a loose beige head; rich chocolate malt aroma; smooth, with a an initial bitter chocolate taste, then changing to a sweeter milk chocolate; and a lasting dry finish. A rather good winter Porter.
