Poured a minimal head, over a darkish brown body. Barley, bit of caramel. Fresh old world hops give a strange balance in this one. Like the first sip but it’s too thin to really enjoy. Some dryness in the end, but not overly much complexity. Decent carbonation. Nah, not really impressed. (50cl bottle, traded with Leighton)

Cask conditioned handpump North Bar Leeds. A black beer with a decent whitish head and lacing. A tasty smooth bitterish porter. Good chocolatey malts. Aroma has chocolate too. A good body to this nice strong porter.

Brown red pour with off white head and lace. Brown sugar and sour malt. Roasted malt, light sugar, caramel, a hinto coffee. A bit thin and fizzy for me.

tombyars (1414) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - FEB 26, 2012
First tasted this at the Paisley Beer Festival in April 2007. Cask, gravity dispense. Clear dark mahogany in colour with a thin creamy white head. Soft caramel notes in the short aroma. Creamy smooth mouthfeel and decent lacing. Mixed malts give a fruity maqlt loaf base with juicy raisin dates, sultanas with molasses present. Slight hop prickle present with earthy notes in the short aftertaste. Finish is heavy and malty with vinous fruit and caramel flavours evident in the creamy mouthfeel. An excellent porter but hard to find north of the border.

13/06/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (cask). Corpo medio, consistenza oleosa, carbonazione soft. Porter mediocre.

TEJA (1399) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JAN 31, 2012
Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Thick lasting brown head. Black-red color. Small but fine chocolate taste. Medium body. Small roasted malty aroma with a tuch of chocolate.

mjs (4869) - Helsinki, FINLAND - NOV 22, 2011
(Cask at Oliver Twist, 20111116) The beer poured almost black and clear. Its head was small, long lasting and white. Aroma had roasted malts and coffee. Palate was quite full bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, liquorice, saltiness and low bitterness. Aftertaste was roasty and bitter. Good porter - especially I liked the lack of burnt flavour.

pivnizub (9100) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - NOV 9, 2011
Bottle: Unclear, deep amber coloured, small and stable off-white foamy layer, sourish-fruity nose, leathery-toasty aromas underneath; medium bodied, moderate bitter-sweet flavour, not overly dry, quite smooth; slightly lingering malty-toasty and fruity finish, accompanied by a light acidity. Quite well rounded, pleasant Porter........
