On opening there’s a huge whiff of bourbon: caramel, chocolate, coconut and vanilla. Low carbonation, but oh so lovely bourbon notes.

Appearance- black, and absolutely no head whatsoever. Plenty of alcohol legs. Aroma- chocolate, bitterness, cocoa, vanilla and bourbon notes, hint of leather. Taste- leathery, plenty of vanilla bourbon, smooth with almost no carbonation, a bit viscous but the mouthfeel is actually not that full. Bitter cocoa and coffee undertones, syrupy and a bit fudgy. Alcohol is quite well hidden. Pretty good imperial stout.

21/03/2014 330ml bottle (thanks Theydon_Bois!). Nera, densa, impenetrabile, schiuma beige-cappuccino modesta. Al naso sentori di malti tostati, zucchero di canna, toffee, alcol, ossidazione, squilibrata, rozza e aggressiva. In bocca alcol, malti tostati, caramello, ossidazione, completamente sballata e rozza. Corpo pieno, piatta. Pessima.

Don’t know where my last rating went. Pretty awful beer. Smelt really nice but the taste was horrible and I ended up pouring half of it down the sink. Lessons in strong dark beers definitely needed. Instead of churning out lots of beers and maximizing profits how about concentrating on quality?

Bottle at Craig’s tasting. Huge toffee bourbon nose, sweet toffee and vanilla taste, sweet chocolate, dry, harsh bourbon. Blend of both was also nice.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours black with the merest hint of a head. Aromas of vanilla, bourbon, wood, booze, coffee. Taste has more coffee, irish coffee maybe. Creamy mouthfeel. Long finish. Good.

Dark treacley with slimest tan head. Woody and fully sweet Bourbon nose. Nicely roasted, pointed rich coffee. A little more understated carbonation, oily but lets the ageing do the work pushing it towards the finish. Creamy enough finish - not overly sweet. p>Bottle, Black Friday Tasting

Bottle shared at Craft Clerko thanks to Paulo, 22/10/13. Mid black with thin tan spotting. Nose is dark malts, light roast, toffee fudge, dark chocolate, boozey waft. Taste comprises light roast, bourbon stained wood, liqourice, treacle toffee, earthy cocoa, boozey notes. Full bodied, moderate carbonation, light booze in the finish. Ok impy if a little rough around the edges. the alcohol is well hidden for 12%.
