Bottle conditioned. This was a surprise to me as I’d convinced myself somehow it was a copper malty ale. It was, in fact, straw coloured. The smell was of hay and the taste of straw and lemon peel. There was also a hint of Smirnoff Red Vodka in the body. All in all an excellent drink.

UPDATED: FEB 28, 2007 Bottled, blind tasting session. Nice grassy and herbal aroma. Yellow color, hazy, white fine head, good lace. Light maltsweet, pretty bitter and even more bitter in the finish, grass, hints of citrus. Dry mouthfeel in the very finish. Highly drinkable although pretty bitter. Lovely beer. Note: Had another bottle but same production date a few months later. This one was very much disappointing. The grassy aroma was replaced by dust and cardboard. The flavor had become quite neutral but the bitterness stayed making it a dull beer.

Bottel conditioned. Blonde, cloudy. Flowery hoparoma. Flowery and earthy hopbitter flavor. The slightest hint of citrus. Some bitternuts. Long bitter aftertaste. A quality ale!

On cask at Bruxellensis. Not much flavor, just very watery tasting. Upfront there were faint hints of apple and caramel, but swept away by bitterness. The hops didn’t really show in the flavor or aroma, just small subtle hints of their faint existence and bitter remains.

On cask at Bruxellensis. Amber with a small head. Woody and flowery nose. Good bitterness, some toffee, though remaining dry, especially towards the finish. Light-bodied. A nice English session ale.

Cask Slow carbonation to fluffy cask head; orange coloured beer. Citrussy (lemon/lemonrind) hopbales and fresh yeast helping, as from the gyle tank. Hugh says too much sulphur. Lots of hops which are really needed for buffering a rather sweet-malty beer. Not really distinctive for a cask ale. Citrus retronasal, and some fruity, yeasty esters. Not light, but "medium bodied" is already pushing it. Nothing more than decent.

Bold aroma of Kent hops. This is a much improved beer with much more outspoken hopping than last year. Reminded me of the better Swale beers of yesteryear. Highly recommended.
