UPDATED: FEB 1, 2005 May, 2003:The Barge, Gillingham. This was not a full sample because the beer was finished on the pump, but Tim, the owner of The Barge, poured out what was left in the cask for me to try - just under half a pint. Yummy! A lovely burnt orange taste. A perfectly balanced bitter; the malt integrated with the hops in that harmony you always want from a bitter, but so rarely get. The Ramsgate Brewery only opened in March 2002, and only have three beers on offer - No. 3; No. 7; and a No. 5 - but if this evidence is anything to go by then Andy Barrett and Eddie Gadd have a hit on their hands. July, 2003 Man of Kent, Rochester. Served slightly warm. Pale amber leading into gold. Smooth, soft mouthfeel with little chewy rough edges. Soft, citric tones. Suggestions of apple, hints of oak and a sharp, dry bite in a mostly watery finish. After a period of being served cold ales it’s nice to have a British ale served in the traditional manner - though this was perhaps a bit too warm. [2.8]
Oct, 2003 Fresh from the brewery. A light and moderately flavoursome beer. Marris Otter sweetness. Acceptable. [3.0]
Jan, 2005:Ramsgate Brewery, Ramsgate - with joet. Normal. A hoppy, dry, medium bodied bitter with a pleasant nettle after taste. [3.4]

Cask @ Southampton Arms, Gospel Oak NW5. Pours a hazy pale amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel aroma. Fruity malty caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty caramel finish.

[Cask at The Dolphin, Broadstairs] Amber, moderate white head. Sweet and sticky at first; a hoppy caramel middle with spicy hints leads to a very dry finish. Odd beer, not sure what to make of it other than that I didn’t enjoy it very much.

Cask, gravity, at The Pig ’n’ Falcon. Gold with a small white head. Faint floral hop aroma. Citric taste, most like grapefruit. Nice biscuity malt in the background. Slight bitterness. Good.

Cask Stillage at the Blacksmiths Arms, Broughton Mills 08/11/2008 Some hop aroma. Golden coloured smooth on the palate and hoppy with a floral and slightly bitter malt finish.

Cask conditioned at The Unicorn, Canterbury. Amber with white head. Sweetish malty bitter with quite a brown bread grainy note. Simple, but quite reasonable in a cracking pub garden in the sun.

Cask - Unicorn Inn, Canterbury. An orangey yellow beer with a fine white head. Bitter and fruity yet perfumey aromas. Plenty of spicy hop bitterness with a fruity malt balance. Lasting dry finish on a good, medium body. This was nice.

Cask: My least favourite of the Ramsgate brewery’s beers. It’s still not bad though. Very hoppy with a little malt in there. There is a bit of harshness towards the end which ruins it a bit.

A Mes rate: Cask at Chelmsford Beer Festival. Golden blonde colour. Amazing sweet hoppy aroma. Unusual and very good. Flavour is not quite so great with some sourish hops and a slight tartness. Not great if I’m honest.

StueyD (666) - Heacham, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, ENGLAND - JUL 27, 2006
A golden yellow coloured beer with a weak white head. A malty nose, with a spicy, clove and cinnamon element to it. The taste is dry, with a hoppy touch to begin with, then the malty spice flavour comes through, with cinnamon and cloves amongst other standing out. A dry finish. (Cask - @ The Fox & Hounds, Heacham, Norfolk).
