COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The laws protecting the brewing of kolsch are as strict as the German Purity Law of 1516. Kolsch beer can only be brewed within the city of Cologne. As the best-known kolsch brewery, Gaffel’s flavor is derived from an ale yeast that is "lagered" (or aged) in cold cellars. Gaffel is pale, faintly fruity with a crisp, hop finish. Enjoy as an aperitif or digestif.

It has a good taste and is a very very drinkable beer. Nothing outstanding, but worth trying and enjoyable. Not worth what I paid for it at the local grocery store, but that’s no reason to throw this one out. Worth a try to all who enjoy a thoroughly drinkable beer.

Pours pale yellow with a disappearing white head. The aroma is dry and perfumy with noble hops. The flavor is leafy with toasted grains and a little malty sweetness (apple, pear) and a nice bitter finish. There’s a little honey on the palate. A very subtle yet complex beer. Very nice. I loved it and need more!

Unsure of this aroma, reminds me of lush skunk cabbage. yellow gold and a flimsy white head that bubbled to nothing, very flat in appearance. dry pine, more skunk, little papery, cold metallic finish

Grainy aroma with some grassy hops. Flavor us very earthy and grainy with a big mineral afterteste. Run off the mill German lager.

Pours a gold - light-gold. Malty, skunky, straw aromas. Perfumed hoppiness. Dry palate. Decent character, but waiting to add some better Kolschs

Bottle in Berlin. Bright hoppy aroma. Pale golden yellow colour. Very dry hoppy flavour. Lingering bitter aftertaste. Not really my type of beer.

I tried this beer on May 23, 2010 after purchasing from the Queen’s Quay LCBO outlet in Toronot, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent medium gold with a generous bubbly white head that quickly disappeared. Plenty of effervescence was noticeable. The aroma was malty with a hint of floral hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was crisp, malty, with a hop finish. Not much different than a German/Czech pilsener in my opinion.
