COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The laws protecting the brewing of kolsch are as strict as the German Purity Law of 1516. Kolsch beer can only be brewed within the city of Cologne. As the best-known kolsch brewery, Gaffel’s flavor is derived from an ale yeast that is "lagered" (or aged) in cold cellars. Gaffel is pale, faintly fruity with a crisp, hop finish. Enjoy as an aperitif or digestif.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2008 (German) This brew pours a pale golden color with a sm-white dissipating head. Aroma is of grain and corn with a crisp flowery, lite spice, taste. The finish is slightly dry but very drinkable !! Would be very nice on a hot day. Amazing that the kolsch is only brewed in the city of Koln.

Poured gold into the glass with a modest white head. Aroma was clean and grainy. Flavor was a little hoppier than I am used to but I really enjoyed this beer after coming out of the heat.

On tap at Tübi’s in Stuttgart on May 21st. Poured into a 200 mL Kölsch glass (1 Euro per glass). Clear yellow/gold pour with a small white head. Skunky, corny aroma. Similar flavor. Definitely skunky, but light and easy to drink.

Pours a clear yellow. Citric nose. Grassy hop flavor. Thin body, refreshing.

Thanks Yespr. It’s warm golden with an OK head. The aroma is mild with floral and malty notes. The flavour has a light sweetness, notes of malt, flower, clover and a smooth, fruity bitterness. It’s very delicate and fine, refreshing and nice.

Draught (20 cl) at the pub K65, Schillerstrasse, Berlin. Clear golden, medium white head. Delicious mild hoppy aroma, slightly fruity. Light in body with soft but lively carbonation. Well balanced, refreshing with a long gently bitter finish.

Decent Kolsch lager. Had it with some Korean BBQ. Not the best pairing but the crispness in the follow through helped to clear some of the spices. Slight "fruity" taste as the label suggests. Certainly better than a Heineken.

Clear golden colored brew. Light aroma and flavor. Hoppy, crisp, a bit spicy. Nice brew, but avarage.
