2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 wildchefbill (245) - Sarasota, Florida, USA - FEB 27, 2004
Pours gold with a large white head. Mild aroma. Good malty, slightly sweet and fruity flavor with a nice floral hop finish. Heavy carbonation. A nice brew that is easy to drink, but not much going on.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Kinz (3023) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - FEB 20, 2004
UPDATED: MAR 28, 2010 Clear yellow, white head, almost but not quite fizzy. Very bready aroma. Very lightly floral hop note, but an overall satisfying malt profile. Very faint bitterness on finish. Highly drinkable, although not complex. Nothing wrong with this beer. RERATE: 3/21/10, bumped it up slightly, as everything just came together here for me. Aroma was less bready, perhaps more crackery. Hops a bit more floral and more noticeable, but still in balance. Just rather lovely. Original numbers were 6,3,7,3,15.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 TheBeerGod (4675) - Newport News, Virginia, USA - FEB 14, 2004
Pours clear yellow with a tall foamy white head. Nose is malty, grassy and lightly hopped. There malt and a slight hopped bitterness to the taste especially during the finish. There's a slight metallic hint during the finish as well, to compliment the bitterness. Very light body and very easy to drink. Not bad.
2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 hotstuff (3350) - Indiana, USA - DEC 26, 2003
Draft at Manni's restaurant in Ft. Myers, FL. This beer had a small sized white head wth fine sized bubbles that mostly dissipated. The body was transparent and softly carbonated with a yellow hue. The nose was sweet and malty. The flavor of this beer was lightly bitter and malty with a smooth mouthfeel. This was a light bodied beer with sparse lacing on the sides of my glass.
2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 thedm (4783) - Fort Wayne, USA - DEC 20, 2003
TheDM and Hotstuff vacation brew 132. This draft brew was sampled at the Manni's resturant in Fort Myers Florida. This brew poured a foamy head of finely sized white colored long lasting bubbles that left behind a transparent softly carbonated brown colored body. It had a nice mellow malty aroma and a mouthfeel that contained a mild hop bite and something else I could not fathom in the finish. It had a thick malty flavor.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 DanielBrown (3222) - Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, ENGLAND - DEC 7, 2003
UPDATED: DEC 9, 2003 On tap at Heising und Adelmann, Cologne. This similar to Sunner kolsch though much less prevelant in the bars around the city. It has a sweet taste on the tongue initially, which levels out slightly, hinting at bitterness. As usual with kolsch, it's eminently drinkable.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 bierkoning (9035) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - SEP 24, 2003
UPDATED: AUG 28, 2005 Bottle. Slightly soapy aroma with orange. Soft, just a bit soapy flavor with orange and very little hopbitterness, maybe a bit in the aftertaste. The emphasis is on the freshness. Still, not too bad: fresh from tap in Köln it must be a quite good beer.
Re-rate tap: not a great differnce from the bottled version. Light and fresh and a hint of soap. Grassy. Not unpleasant.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 jutuahol (189) - Jyväskylä, FINLAND - SEP 16, 2003
Clear, sparkling golden beer, with thick white head and nice lace. Flowery and a bit dry, but smooth nose. Pretty light, fizzy, a bit dry and sweet malty. Also bitter and fresh. Aftertaste is bitter and long.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Hansen (5468) - Assentoft, DENMARK - JUL 27, 2003
Plain ordinary beer. I did look the style up. I thought it was a pilsner, before I rated it. Normal sweetness from malt and bitterness.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Mads Langtved (2246) - Copenhagen K, DENMARK - JUN 10, 2003
Pretty close to a pilsener. Kölsh is not my style. It was a relief to get a beer in Bamberg containing under 0,5 ltr. It is not very German. Of course served in a slim cylinder glass as all Kölschs have to be.
