COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The laws protecting the brewing of kolsch are as strict as the German Purity Law of 1516. Kolsch beer can only be brewed within the city of Cologne. As the best-known kolsch brewery, Gaffel’s flavor is derived from an ale yeast that is "lagered" (or aged) in cold cellars. Gaffel is pale, faintly fruity with a crisp, hop finish. Enjoy as an aperitif or digestif.

Pours a pale clear yellow with a decent white head. Aroma is boiled barley and hop flowers. Smooth, sweet malt and corn taste. Mild hop bitterness. Refreshing!

Bottle at North Bar, Leeds. Asked for a good, cheap, summery beer and got one. Pale yellow, fair head. Not a lot in the aroma, what is there is quite hoppy. Quite crisp and refreshing, smooth as well. Citrusy notes in it too. Very clean taste. Not complex, but effective. Nice but nothing special.

Bottle. Pours a pale yellow color with a fizzy white head. Aroma is quite metallic, some mineral notes, light grassy hops and sweet malts. Flavor follows the nose, with notes of citrus, grassy hops, sweet malts and the metallic notes. The body is light and watery. Overall a meh beer.

Tap. Fluffy white head, very light clear yellow. Aroma of light herbal hops, some grass, and grain. Slightly sweet, some light fruits, very light mineral hops. Lighter, soft body with tiny carbonation. Decent.

A clear, pale yellow pour with a frothy, white head. It has a light apple aroma along with some faint wheat. The light body has a nice texture, not too thin, with lively carbonation. The taste is mildly sweet followed by a dry, mildly bitter finish.
