COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The laws protecting the brewing of kolsch are as strict as the German Purity Law of 1516. Kolsch beer can only be brewed within the city of Cologne. As the best-known kolsch brewery, Gaffel’s flavor is derived from an ale yeast that is "lagered" (or aged) in cold cellars. Gaffel is pale, faintly fruity with a crisp, hop finish. Enjoy as an aperitif or digestif.

12oz - Good, straightforward German Eurolager. Clean flavors with enough hops to know they’re there.

On tap at Gaffel am Dom, Köln. Poured goldenorange in colour with white head. Fresh malty aroma with some hops too. Flavour similar, a bit mild on the whole. Decent Kölsch.

Typical Kölsch. Nice white head. It is a cold refreshing liquid but tastes unspectecular and its aroma suffers of a bore-out. Finish is rather quick. Drinkable though!

Clear yeallow golden beer, white head, unstable and diminishes fast, no lacing. Aroma: citrus hops. MF: good carbon, light to medium body. Taste: some malts, hops, and a little sweetness almost honey like. Aftertaste: hops, some citrus, not much.

2/25/11. On tap in a Gaffel glass. Light, clear golden pour with a thick fluffy white head that sizzles to half but laces a ton. Light grainy aroma with pale malts and a hint of fruitiness. Grainy kolsch flavor with hints of caramel, corn, and fruit. Served on the warm side giving it a nice creamy and smooth mouthfeel.

AFter brewing a Kolsch style myself, I wanted to try a commercial example. Aroma smells like a light fruit salad. POured a light bodied, pilsner color, creamy white head. 2 finger head dissipates to small ring. Taste is slight citrus, very little grains, corn?, and little hops. No aftertaste and very crisp. Taste does not linger in your mouth. Served very cold, so I wasn’t able to tase all of its true taste. Excellent and will have again. A great transition from Miller Lite or other macro brews. Very sessionable beer. Could easily put down a 6 pack..
