COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The laws protecting the brewing of kolsch are as strict as the German Purity Law of 1516. Kolsch beer can only be brewed within the city of Cologne. As the best-known kolsch brewery, Gaffel’s flavor is derived from an ale yeast that is "lagered" (or aged) in cold cellars. Gaffel is pale, faintly fruity with a crisp, hop finish. Enjoy as an aperitif or digestif.

Pretty decent Kolsch. Yeasty and nutty but bitterness is soft. Lots of taste. Not bad ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Fad, Kröv, Mosel, serveret i autentiske små Kölsch-glas. Klar, lys, korngul, med et lavt hvidt skum. Græsset, kornet næse. Frisk, ren, forfriskende, tør i munden. En læskende øl, også på en kold sommerdag.

this is the bud light of kolsches in cologne, off and disjointed, medicinal, how can you make this bad? just make it taste like nothing, you’ll do much better.

500ml bottle purchased at the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario. Pale clear golden in colour with no head, no lacing. Not a good start. Aroma is quite skunky, lots of grains and cereal, toast. Flavour is highly sweet, corn, grains, wheat. Thin and watery mouthfeel, light body, no carbonation. Finishes sweet and quick. Right from the get-go this was fairly shitty. Another bland beer for the Ontario market, awesome.

Counter top gravity pour at Bei d’r Tante. Pale gold pour with thin white head. Aroma is biscuity, bready, a little yeastier than the others we had the same day, fruity. Taste is malty, bready, much more sweet grainy flavors than usual, a bit sweet as well compared to the others, super clean but sweet. Palate is light med bodied, chewy for a kölsch, light carb.

So I drank another kölsch and it was pretty much the same as the kölsch I drank before. (repeat)

Bottle, pours a clear gold with a white head, malty aroma, taste starts sweet then becomes slightly bitter with malt and fruit notes, has light bitter hop finish, light body, easy to drink, decent beer

Pours a clean golden color, topped with a decent white head. There is a fairly strong malty aroma, slightly dusty. The taste is between the sweetness of malty and hoppy bitterness. Drinkable and enjoyable, although slight metal feel in the end.

500 mL bottle. Pours crystalline, light straw with a cap of white head. Doughy pilsner malt, light biscuit, sweet grass and subtle pear fruit. Gentle malt sweetness with a crisp, lightly hopped finish. Surprisingly clean and delightfully refreshing, light bodied with full carbonation. It might be a macro in Germany but it beats the hell out of our domestic lager-trash.

Pours golden. Aroma of some malt. Tastes of about half mild malts at half mild hops. Not really sure lot going on here. Refreshing, though.

The body has a bright light yellow color with great clarity. The pour produced a tall soapy white head. This fluffy light head fades quickly leaving just a thin ring of bubbles to hug the edge of the glass. Lacing is minimal and spotty. The aroma is light overall and there is delicate bready malt with a decent amount of floral and botanical hop notes. It also has a hint of sulfur to it as well. Its light body has a delicate bready maltiness with a slight fruity quality to it. The hops are in prefect light balance. They add a similar floral/botanical spice and bitterness as detected in the aroma. It finishes clean and crisp. Its delicate flavor and light texture and body make it an easy hot weather drinker.
