3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A thin head on a clear, golden colored body.
The aroma is wonderful: grain, barnyard and lemon.
The taste is okay with moderate bitterness followed by a metallic note and mild fruit sweetness.
The texture is crisp with a little fizz but still moderate carbonation.
Slightly above average but enjoyable.

On tap, at the Deutsche Telekom HQ in Bonn. Looks err like a Kölsch, golden, thin white foam. I’d say this one is slightly more on the clean and bitter end of the spectrum, Kölsch naysayers might say pils-like! Actually more bitter if drunk quickly. Gets a bit flabby and leaves an unpleasant finish if it warms up too much. Ok, but at the margin not my favourite Kölsch.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma is hay and malty. Taste is a very mild bitterness. Body is rather full again. Maybe this just isn’t my style? Anyway, I didn’t enjoy it very much, alththough it is very drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours with a wispy, white head that doesn’t stick around for long. There’s a clear gold colour with a faintly fruity colour and a pleasant finish. There’s a reason why this is the best known kolsch. It’s a fine example of the style and a decent way to start off the Super Bowl, although it’s more of a summer beer.

500 ml bottle. Pours a clear light golden colour with almost no head left. Nose of sour malts. Taste is malty with a silk smooth and sour finish. Medium body and carbonation. A good classic kölsch.
