COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The laws protecting the brewing of kolsch are as strict as the German Purity Law of 1516. Kolsch beer can only be brewed within the city of Cologne. As the best-known kolsch brewery, Gaffel’s flavor is derived from an ale yeast that is "lagered" (or aged) in cold cellars. Gaffel is pale, faintly fruity with a crisp, hop finish. Enjoy as an aperitif or digestif.

I don’t demand a lot out of Kolsch: crisp palate, nice light and lean malt body, maybe a bit of grassy quality. This doesn’t quite reach all those bars, having some slightly off bitterness in the finish and a malt profile that’s a bit too sweet. Still, fine enough.

Flasche gekauft im Supermarkt. Goldener Körper mit viel Schaum, Aroma Hopfen, Zitrus, etwas Metal. Geschmack etwas bitter, wieder metallisch, speichelbildend. Bitterer halb langer Nachgeschmack

@ Röhälla 20160624. Bottle (330 ml) from Systembolaget. Sweet, malty and grassy with light fruity and light citrusy notes, light to medium body with a watery texture. The finish is dry, bitter, sweet and malty.

11.2 oz. bottle from Jungle Jim’s (Fairfield); shared with Boo. Aroma: Pale, semi-sweet bready malts with a peppery, slightly grassy hop character in near balance. Appearance: Yellow pour with soft carbonation holding up a sticky white head that settles into a patchy ring. Flavor: Slightly lemony bread up front with a gently peppery/grassy hop presence at the finish, which is slightly bitter. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: Well done and clean; best enjoyed with a German-centric meal.

0.33 l bottle @ Green Sheep Beers and Bar. Golden color, white head. Malts and yeast in flavor. Bittersweet flavor, with malty and hoppy hints. Short finish, light to medium body, easily drinkable. Not too complex, but fine.

Loving this stuff on draft. Really fresh malt and floral hops with solid but not abrasive bitterness. Very drinkable but not boring at all.
