Troebel blond bier met een kleine witte kop. Smaakt naar gruit, gist en een bittertje. Gruitige nasmaak. Moet je van houden.

Pilsener pour, large frothy dense head. A: soapy, fresh grass notes, hint of tea leaves, faint hint of walnuts. T: medium bodied, bit yeasty. First tastes that come through are peppery, bit like almond paste. Development is milder, with hints of walnut and fresh grass notes, faintest floral notes. Aftertaste is mildly bitter, slightly boozy. Ok.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet’s BU. Got this one ’cause I was born in a city named after Myrica Gale. A bit hazy dark yellow to amber body. Some white head. Fruit and herb nose. Quite sweet. Banana, hint of pineapple, berries, fruit and herbal flavour. Some mint. Pepper. Tea, hint of ginger. Medium body and carbonation. Quite good.

Bottle 33cl. Yellow gold with a medium white top. Aroma reminds me of blond beer: malts and yeast. The taste is a bit more spicy than the aroma predicts. There’s a little bit of sweetness in the aftertaste with a glow of alcohol.

Even, thin, lasting lace. Sweet, herbal aroma. Floral, and sweet yeast taste. Kind of leafy on the tongue too. Really enjoying the tea-like flavors.

11.2oz bottle, thanks to aabean for bringing this back from her cali trip and sharing. Date on the cap reads 06/06/14. Hazy orange amber color. Thin off-white head. Decent ridges of lace. Medium to bigger body. Kind of slick. Light carbonation. Very interesting sweet, herbal minty afroma, I guess that’s that myrica gale (you know, bog myrtle). Moderate sweet taste, mild bitter, less spicy than most belgian ales. Very tea-like. ginger. Enjoying it a lot more than I expected to. Pleasant to sip on.

Bottle 33cl. Slightly hazy medium golden, large frothy white head, diminishes slowly, fair lacing; strong sweet bog myrtle aroma, anis, orange peel, yeasty; taste medium sweetbitter, herbal, bit medicinal; medium body, oily to creamy texture, soft carbonation; aftertaste full of herbal bitterness; a very interesting beer, not for everyday but on the whole quite nice.

7th Feb 2015: Brugge Beer Festival. Golden pour from the tap, white topping (just about). Bog Myrtle? Spicy, floral and herbal nose with a mild yeastiness in the background. Taste is maltier than the aroma hints at, finish is more bitter: decent and different.
