3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from City Beer. Pours hazy golden with a foamy white head and a honey and spice aroma. There is a sweet herbal flavor, bog myrtle I guess, with a peppery perfumed finish. A very odd brew, but not altogether disappointing.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330 from Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa, CA. Pours dishwater gold with a foamy 3.5 finger white head. Aroma: bog myrtle. Been there before. Wouldnít have known the name without help, but the aroma is familiar. A Bon Secours I think. Medium body with lightly foamy carbonation. The flavor is like weird blueberry with wood. Odd flavor aside itís pretty drinkable. Much better than the other version I had. Itís a bit sweet and gingery, but thatís good considering the base flavor. You should try it. If you go back for more, you may be weird.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
330ml at Toad in the Hole. Foggy yellow with medium white head. Initial aroma of soft malt, digestif herbs, and chicken excrement. Flavor is a lot more appealing - sarsaparilla and cream soda notes come through over an almost hospital weirdness. Strong carbonation, light astringency, and a slightly sweet finish.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. It pours a hazy, orange body topped by a nice, off-white head. The aroma is flowery and gingery, rather boring, but far from bad. Itís a tad better than the flavor, which is sweet and fruity with flowers and a certain acidic touch. Lemony hops towards the finish. Medium body, nice carbonation level. I like it, but itís too special to be a favorite. 100326

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours golden with thick, dense white head. Aroma is pleasant graininess with citrus-like or even eucalyptus-like essential oils, mild earthiness, light spice. Flavor is mild sweetness finishing with fading mint/citrus delicately oily herbal flavors and very light alcohol astringency. Very good. Iíve had english-style gruits and they were much harsher, the belgian interpretation has a higher abv yet is much smoother and coherent.
