Really nice beer, especially for a gruit beer. In the land of hoppy beers this is breath of fresh air. Although, it is a nicely made beer it is not really my style. However, I would recommend any beer geek to put this on your must try. It really is completely different than any other beer you have tried.

Pours a nice golden hazy beer with a big white head. Smells really nice. Sweet. I think that is the gagel. Tasts licorice and laurier. Not my kind of thing.

Ruikt kruidig en zoetig. Mooi troebel bier met goed schuim. Smaakt vlak, maar kruidig.

Erg lekker kruidig bier! Zeer aparte smaak door het gebruikte gagelplantje uit turnhout!

Note: this is pretty weird. I was sure I had rated this beer long ago. More even: I’ve had it on several occasions, and did not take notes, because I thought I had already rated it.

Clear orange beer, aery off-white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, honey, sugary, spices, sweet malts, fruity touch, orange peel. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, citrus, grains, bread, bitter touch. Aftertaste: orange peel, alcohol sweetness, little bitter, honey, bready, sugar.

Bottle at home, this rating is more for my own list, I have had this beer earlier this year before I started taking notes. What I remember: different beer than others, nice.

I like this. It has a slightly funky first bite to it, and it maintains the strange flavor throughout. A sweetness sits there as well. Nice.

30 ml stubby bottle, poured into a tulip glass. I got this into an organic goods grocery store. ABV 7,5%. Pours a nice orange gold colour, with a thick head of two fingers, good retention and light lacing left behind. Slighty hazy. Strong gale aroma, very unique. Some light alcohol smell. Probably there are other aromas too but gale overpowers everything else. What a fantastic taste! Quite bitter and hoppy, the gale once again very notable, making it extra refreshing. The alcohol very nicely conceiled. Medium dryness on the palate, medium to full body and just enough carbonation. Overall a great beer, with a very unique taste, at least I, haven’t met before a beer that tastes like that. Highly recommended.

33 cl bottle @ Gastropub Tuulensuu. Rated on 14.08.2010
Aroma is surprisingly light with herbs and floral notes. Flavour is a bit unpleasant with harsh bitterness and strong herbs (probably the Bog Myrtle himself). No wonder they use hops nowadays…
