This deep red ale deftly balances rich malt flavours of toast and toffee with subtle spicy hop aromas and a cleansing bitterness. One of our original brews, this beer makes a great introduction to the enticing flavours of craft beer and is also very versatile for pairing with food.

Draft at the brewery. Clear red body, small white head. The aroma has malt, some spices. The taste is spicy, with a pleasant roasted finish.

500ml bottle shared with blackhaddock in his man cave. Many thanks to Duffman for this. Pours deep amber with a good tan head. Aroma is caramel, soft grainy malts. Taste is smooth caramel, hints of roast and spice. Essentially a nice uncomplicated easy-drinking smooth amber.

500ml bottle, shared with minutemat on 5th Aug 2016. A decent beige head sat on top of the red/mahogany bodied beer. Malts rule the roost here, lightly roasted/toasted in the aroma, sweet notes from the molasses in the taste, tempered with some mild hop bitterness in the finish.

On tap at the Halifax Gahan pub. Clear dark mahogany body with a fine head. Good malty aroma with a bit more roasted grain flavor than the aroma suggests. Slightly bitter. Very nice.

Slightly hazy dark amber color with powerful carbonation. Creamy beige 2 finger head, lasting around 15 minutes, with strong legs. Aromas of fresh bread and caramel. Flavors of grains, burnt caramel, roasted nuts, lemon, melon, and herbal spices. Well balanced flambé and biscuity sweet taste with a nice sharp grainy feel. Slightly earthy. Creamy full body with perfect carbonation. Well intensified finish of medium length, ending with a sharp crispy herbal feel and a fruity/caramel tongue coat. Overall a very good craft with complex delicious flavors, super fresh feel, and well balanced.

Enjoyed at the Gahan House in Halifax. Pours a clear amber colour with a decent off-white head. Aromas of toasted grain with caramel malts. Kind of a peachy fruit taste with a grainy finish. A pretty refreshing fruity red ale.

2015/09/24 - Pours a clear, dark mahogany colour with a thick, fluffy, khaki head thy slowly reduces and leaves moderate lacing. Aroma is toffee, mild roast, grass, spices and mild floral hops. Taste is moderately sweet caramel, mild roast, spice, and mildly bitter floral hops. Mouthfeel is a tad thin with average carbonation and a crisp drying finish. A little watery, but not terrible. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
