This deep red ale deftly balances rich malt flavours of toast and toffee with subtle spicy hop aromas and a cleansing bitterness. One of our original brews, this beer makes a great introduction to the enticing flavours of craft beer and is also very versatile for pairing with food.

On tap at The Gahan House as part of the sampler. Pours a brilliantly clear red/brown color with a smallish beige head. Aromas of bready toasty caramel malt with hints of roast and earth. The flavor is interesting caught somewhere between an amber and a brown with lots of interesting roast and chocolate notes. I enjoyed this enough that I ordered a pint.

Seems to have more going for it than other Gahan House offerings. Tastes of bread, caramel, and you do get some hop tastes in there as well. Has some more body than most of their ales and finishes off with a bitter aftertaste. Pretty standard.

More of an Amber than a Red but it does have a touch more earthy, caramel malt going on than an Amber. Reddish tan with a quickly diminishing head. Lightly bitter and sweet with some brown bread and corn.

50cl bottle :P. Clear copper, off-white head. Nose is herbal and metallic hops, malt tartness, crystal malt. Flavour is dough, pine, pretty bitter finish. Carbonation is low. Could be old, I’ll try another one some day, can’t blame me for tick desperation.

Couleur ambrée avec un mince col mousseux durable. Nez typique des amber ale caramel. En bouche caramel sur une faible amertume. Une amber ale qui se boit bien mais ne révolutionne rien!

500ml brown bottle. Red amber pour, has a creamy off white head. Lots of lace rings. Caramel nose with some toasted grains, light hops. Taste has caramel, toasty grain, touch of nut and chocolate malts. Caramel and grain finish with lingering orange peel hops. Creamy mouthfeel, medium body. Pleasant canadian red ale, goes down easily, better than expected.

Got this one from my father in law that went to the island last summer. Aroma: Cereals, grain, farm, hay, but not sticking out much. Very weak strength. Common nose. Visual: Amber / copper, very clear with a thick, creamy and long lasting head. Good lacing and sticking well to glass. Taste: Attack is very smooth with discreet notes of cereals. Action is taking place in malty notes of bread, cereals and grain with a little bitterness as finish. Not much to say about this beer, except that it’s OK, just OK
