3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
My Bottom Line:
Earthy, rural breezes brush this Bière de Garde’s nutty, toasted malts, as strawberries angles suggest depth.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-There is barely any foam atop the misty red.
-The yeast pour adds more character.
-Hops are hard to perceive, adding very mild herbal, peppery notes in the end.
-This is undercarbonated, decreasing drinkability.
-.Malt flavors are well defined throughout.

Cloudy brown beer. Frothy white head. Soft frothy palate. Creamy malt with with a mildy sour caramel streak. Dry soft finish with a trace of aniseed. Typical French beer - soft and sweet and that’s fine by me!

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A hazed dark amber to brown ale with a thick moka head, bottle gushed a bit, little floaties. A very nice aroma of fruit esters, caramel sugars, smooth alcohol, treacle. In mouth, a very belgian interpretation, with loads of caramel malt, fruity esters, burned nuts, herbal notes, smooth and pleasant. 750 ml from Cave a Bulles, bought in April 2010.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Lots of sediment, sickly amber color. Aroma is sweet and malty, flavor is a very bubbly amber malt with butter. Typical amber ale, but slightly lighter. Bottle from Mmmckay at the PreLabor Day Beer Tasting.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours medium amber with an ivory head. Aroma of faint belgian phenols. Lighter side of medium bodied with fine carbonation. Flavor of caramel and brown sugar, countered by mild herbal hops. Nothing exciting, but not horrible either .

Doesn’t really taste like a beer Biere de Garde. More like an ordinary amber ale. Malty and sweet. Not offensive in the least. But nothing to remember. OK

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a beige , fizzy, lasting head with a hazy, murky brown body. Aromas of red fruit and yeast. Flavor is red fruit, sweet, lightly toasted malt, hops to balance. Finish is a bit dry.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Stormy bubbles in an amber-brown muddy body, lots of fluffy beige head on top. Aroma is barley, chocolate, bread. Taste is a soft mix of malts and lots of alcohol on the back end, sour and dry finish. A really good bière de garde, but not the best.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Cave à Bulles. The cork went into the ceiling, and on top of the copper-coloured beer is a nice, sticky, yellowish head. At first I thought chocolate aroma, but it is actually more earthy, even a bit sour fruit. Chocolate remains in the mouth, with hints of sour fruit and dusty earthiness. Very "rural" if there exists a taste term like that. Original and interesting.

Bought this at the La Cave à Bulles in Paris. Pours a great amber color not like most biere de Garde. Light but strong. Caramel sweetness but not overpowering. Excellent beer.
