COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bohemian Pilsner When we designed this lager we wanted to stay away from the insipid generic lager styles which are available nearly everywhere you look. We wanted a beer that had flavour that could still be tasted after several pints. High quality European lager malt along with Czech Saaz and German Hallertau hops have produced a fresh tasting aromatic lager that is full bodied for the style, malty and refreshing.

Lots of DMS on the nose. More corn with the first sip. Hints of vomit. Not very nice really. Sipped it again. Same flavours. Drank some water, then the beer. Still the same. Worst of the beers at the pub by some distance

Draft at the brewpub. Pours a rich clear gold with a whit head. Weak aroma- Euro hops, grass, malt, citrus. Flavor is grainy, with hops, grass, and a mild sweetness. Light bodied, with a dry finish. Not bad for the style, but probably the least impressive one I tried from Galbraith.

Draught at Galbraith’s Alehouse, Auckland. Pours pale golden with small white head. Some light floral and grassy notes but just falls short of the mark. Quite thin and average bitterness.

Second beer of the night...still thirsty after the Munich...man how humid is it in Auckland! Looks great in the glass, a shade darker than Munich and the better for it. Slightly fruity zest on the nose, this has a lighter fruitier malt/hop presence than the Munich which allows it to seem fresher and more quenching. This is a style i do love and i like the way this is more true to style than other antipodean offerings but isn’t lessened by this fact. This beer is a problem for me, anywhere else i would drink this by the bucketload but at Galbraiths i hardly touch it because of the real ale offerings!

(On tap) Clear, golden with a creamy, white head leaving a neat curtain of laces. Aroma of malt and perhaps a whiff of flowers. Medium body with a solid, lightly sweet malt base and a dry finish with a surprisingly discreet bitterness. Not quite as characterful as could be expected from a Bohemian Pils. 070208

TheGrandMaster (2313) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 2, 2007
Draught at the brew pub, a clear and bright gold with a bubbly white head. A clean hoppy citrus aroma. The palate is quite smooth for a pilsner at first, but then becomes more dry and grainy - which I think dominates the flavours that could come from the malt and hops.

Tap: smells like sauvignon blanc. Is fresh in the mouth and tastes herby and grassy with dusty straw and rising bitterness that both linger into a long dry (and slightly dull) finish. Pretty good though.

PET from brew pub (tasted 10/01/07) Clear bright golden, decent white head that lingers. Moderate malty aroma. Medium-full bodied mouth, nice slightly grassy/citrus middle & dry hop finish. Possible a bit stale but given I transported it back to ChCh & stored a few weeks that’s probably understandable

omhper (15964) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - FEB 8, 2006
Draught at the brewpub. Clear golden. Grassy hops are there, but it’s dominated by bready malt. It’s medium bodied with clean mouthfeel and medium bitterness. It’s more like those modernized, clean Czech lagers, than the good old ones with loads of diacetyl and lots of saaz hops.

On tap. Pale golden colour, thick white fluffy head. Nice strong grassy/earthy hop aroma. Some thin pils caramel malts. Flavour is quite grassy and earthy with a moderate but very clean bitterness.
