COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A bottom fermented pale lager made with Bavarian yeast and German malt and hops. A long 12 week lagering period has produced a classic European lager style with malty palate and crisp, clean, hoppy finish.

From the keg. Some malty sweet biscuit Munich malt goodness with a little bit of noble hop lemon/floral on the nose. Nose is a thick slice of Germany with a little poise. Very european in style, more so than any beer i think I’ve had in NZ. Nice.

Clean refreshing beer with light sweet hops. Mild carbonation makes this an easy drinker.

My first run in with this brew was at a Champagne sponsored tennis tournament and I was glad to see not only a palate cleanser available, but it was available for breakfast as well (shows you what sort of tournament ensued). Now I rate this in the cold, sober light of day. Pours crystal clear with a bright white head that is slowly subsiding in my glass. Fruity, passsionfruit, herbaceous hop aromas. It has an aroma, but it is simple, clean and uncomplicated. Flavourwise it bears similarity to Hoffbrau intially and gives tasty lager flavours that would make this an ideal session beer. Good malt flavours that endure. Tick in the box from me.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours clear gold with a small white head. Aroma of yeast, hops, malt, and flavor follows suit. Very Euro, but without the Euro skunk that plagues so many German, Czech, and other Central European lighter styles. More bitter than expected. Light bodied, crisp, refreshing.

Draught at Galbraith’s Alehouse, Auckland. Pale golden with small white head. Aroma of malt and floral notes, though not as clean as I would of liked. Crisp flavour and good bitterness. For a lager it’s definitely of of the better ones I’ve tried.

Maybe it’s because i’ve walked miles and this is my first beer but man that’s a good drop! Slightly ’feet’ on the nose but the flavours are great a very assertive nutty malt palate with a dry dry finish, like yalnikim says, probably to hoppy in the finish for the style but i don’t care.

(On tap) Clear, golden with a creamy, white head leaving a pretty lacework. Fresh, lightly floral aroma. Medium body with a solid, clean malt base and a dry, hoppy finish. Very clean and well made. 070208

Draught at the brewpub, A slight haze to the golden colour and a white foamy head. A lightly hopped aroma with hints of honey. The easy bitterness and dryness works well on the palate. The grainy flavour is very clean and the beer as a whole is very easy to drink. If only there were more lagers like this in NZ, I might drink them more often.

Tasted 03/12/2007. Tap, at the brewpub. Lovely crisp, and well-lagered, pale lager from New Zealand’s spiritual home of real ale. Very nice balance of herbal hop and fragrant malt, with a nice touch of sulphur. A shade more hop than you might expect from a Munich lager but served in good condition.

Tried with Gareth at brewery. Smelt floral with pungent sweetness and maybe strawberries too (?). It’s nice: clean and crisp with super quick fresh herby taste ( a bit like their Pils). Gareth reckoned it got better as it warmed a degree or three and I agree. More flavours were realeased but a kind of barny straw arrived to muddy the experience.
