COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A golden beer with a burst of citrusy hop flavor paired with a solid malt backbone. This beer leaves a pleasant bitterness lingering on the palate from the Galena and Cascade hops. Seems to me that crabby Annabelle might leave you with a similar aftertaste!

Tap at the brewery. Aroma: toasty and caramel malts, pine and citrus from the hops, good charge of resin and grapefruit, grassy. Pours a hazy amber color, thin head and below average retention, not a lot of lacing. Flavor is fairly bitter, lots of pine and grapefruit, heavy on the caramel malts, some residual sweetness, noticeable grassy notes in the finish. Bitter aftertaste lingers for a while but is not overpowering. Medium-full body, feels like attenuation might be a bit low, average carbonation.

Now advertised as an IPA. This brewery is only two years old, and the Brewmaster was talking about how he has been changing the recipes constantly, trying to find the right taste for all their different varieties. It’s a good IPA, but I don’t like IPA’s, so sorry for the low rating Brewmaster.

Tap @ the brewery. The beer pours to a murky chestnut colored body with a lasting white head. The aroma is too light to distinguish much other than perhaps grapefruit and some pale malt. The flavor is bitter grass and grapefruit. Medium body.

On draught at the Galena Brewing Company brewpub in downtown Galena, Illinois. Pours a semi-hazy golden amber, and light copper colored brew with a thick off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring and leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma of typical Three C’s hops, with some caramel, a hint of cellar cardboard, and a touch of grassy hops. Taste is medium bodied, not as carbonated as the first three Galena base beers with a nice balanced of toasted malt, grassy hops and earthy herbs. Finish is semi-dry, short lived mild bitterness with some toasted caramel malt aftertaste that slowly disappears. More of an English Pale Ale than American.
