3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 jmohno (389) - Iowa, USA - DEC 13, 2011
From a bottle bought at the brewery.Amber color. Not much head.Frothy ring.Bits of lacing not much.
Aroma is some light carmel toasty bready, slightly yeasty, mineral,Little bit of fruit/hops.
Taste is mildy carmel sweet light grain/mildly bready.Mild nuttyness.Pretty much matches the description well,im enjoying this more than i liked the flight sampler which is odd because i liked the others on tap rather than bottle.Differnt batches do different things i guess.
Prettty smooth overall, some mild esters but great drinability, nice mild citrus on the finish finishing well. Pretty good.Wish i had another.I like the way this one finishes up.Good solid mild amber. I like a little more bitterness but no complaints here.

(Contract-brewed version, Sand Creek Brewery)
Picked up a couple singles in Galena while passing through. No freshness date on the bottle.
Into an 8 oz. Hamms goblet, this has a nice cap of white foam, and a burnt copper body. Slightly hazed with slow carbonation rising. The head fades to a ring at the edge.
Apple, caramel, and nutty toasted malt aroma. So far so good.
Taste isn’t as good, some toasted grain, mild bitterness, with an odd vegetal note. Some huskiness and slight residual sweetness. Light carbonation, somewhat watery, though it’s an easy drinking beer. Reviewed on: 07-25-2010

Draught at the brewpub. Pours hazy amber with small whitish head. The aroma is caramel, some light fruity hops. Flavor is bland caramel with some fruit notes, a dusty hint, slight grain, and pine.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 tmoreau (1355) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - SEP 3, 2011
12 oz. bottle poured to a shaker with a clear, copper color, and a decent amount of silky, cream colored head foam that lingered for awhile while depositing wavy lacing on the interior. The nose was light grain, and light toast & caramel notes. The flavor contributed some smooth, but non- hefty malt, and low hop bitterness. Not a strong version of the style, but well carbonated, light to medium bodied, and sessionable.

4oz pour at the brewery. Lightly sweet caramel malt with light bitterness to finish. Smooth, lightly fruity, and sessionable. But, ultimately quite bland.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 wnoble (694) - French Lick, Indiana, USA - JUN 19, 2011
Bottle thanks to Evan. Pours light amber with many yeast chunkies floating about. Small off white head that fades to a light collar. Nose is some caramels, toasted malts, bread like richness and very clean like a lager with no apparent hop aroma. Taste is fairly dry in the finish with a toasted malt character as mentioned. Finishes dry and clean. Mouthfeel is smooth other than a little biting carbonation. Good beer but a clean lager for sure. Not life changing.

Tap at the brewery. Aroma: caramel malts, light nutty note. Pours a slightly hazy copper color, thin head, not a lot of lacing. Flavor is caramel, some toasty notes and a hint of burnt chocolate, low hop bitterness and flavor. Thin body, average carbonation.

This one was sampled at the Galena Beer Company Brewpub on 10/30/10. It was the dark amber color with a long lasting beige head. It had the caramel taste with a hint of toffee. Hops were correctly balanced, and it went down well.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Skyview (4880) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - AUG 16, 2010
Sampled on draught at the new Galena Brewing Company in downtown Galena, Illinois. Bartender informed me this is part of the four remaining half barrels from Sand Creek. Pours a semi-clear golden amber colored brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that dissipates to a thin white ring. Spotty lacing too. Aroma of caramel malt, a hint of ale yeast, and some floral hops. Taste is medium bodied, extra carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, floral hops and a hint of toffee. Finish is slightly metallic with the extra carbonation, very low bitterness with a caramel malt and floral hop aftertaste.
