Pale brown. Gale's beers often have a reputation for malty sweetness, even in the bitters, but this one despite having some malt, is much fresher than the Gales norm. A little sweetness at the start, quite fruity, but hops dominate here. Dry finish. Although the Gales website suggest this beer is designed to be served through a sprinkler, with a big head, the CAMRA tasting notes suggest otherwise. The version I tried was handpumped, but not through a sprinkler. Quite well balanced and very drinkable, but nothing exceptional. The Speaker, London SW1, July 2003

A yellow beer with no head and no aroma. The flavor is slightly sweet and slightly bitter which leaves a very good balanced beer. A nice bitter.

Stewed hops in the bottle. Some malt lazily struggles to overcome the damp cardboard of this dead and dead useless beer.
