pivo (2540) - GERMANY - DEC 13, 2002
Strong aromas of molasses, toffee and alcohol. Cloudy brown color with no head or carbonation. Fruity, raisiny tastw with hints of toffee and nuts. Clean wood-like finish. Thick and syrupy. This is a heavy, complex beer that gets lots of individual character points, but overall isn’t as successful I expected.

YogiBeera (2436) - Hamburg, GERMANY - DEC 12, 2002
Coffe, chocolate, alcohol and dates nose. Dirty brown body with hints of red, no head. Pure bitter coffee taste. Syrupy. The alcohol comes to much through.

JPDIPSO (4957) - Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 6, 2002
Pours to a flat cloudy amber. Aroma of oranges and raisins, with a slight waft of alcohol. Looks thick feels thin. Flavors are actually quite watery, with dry oak and light sherry. Lacks backbone/soul & spirit.

muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - SEP 19, 2002
Muddy, dull appearance with no head at all; aromas of port and apple cider detectable, but not strong. Flavor fairly alcoholic, very acidic, vinous; not much like beer at all. I liked it enough that I wouldn’t turn it down, but there are a lot better brews out there at $5 or more a bottle. Oh, and the sourness IS reminiscent of a lambic to me also (thanks for the review, austinpowers).

Zero head and carbonation. Sour aroma and apple/grape taste with some wood notes. I didn’t care for this at all.

’Brewed for the Year 2000’, the label says - so I wasn’t expecting it to be fresh, but then I learned it’s supposed to age for 18 months. This beer pours and tastes much like a barleywine. Rather sour, like a lambic (seriously).

Brown coloured. Raisin sweet. Remarkably thin (for being 10.0%) with big alcoholic punch. Only lightly hopped.

Oakes (10191) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 6, 2001
Similar to the POA in its rich fruitiness, smooth malt palate, silky finish and undeniable complexity.
