Bottle 0,50L (2011 version). Dark brown colour, small beige head. Aroma is mix of chocolate, molasses, roasted malt, blueberries, cherries, slightly parfumed and some Port. Full bodied, creamy, sweet at the start, aftertaste is somewhere between acidic and bitter. Alcohol is present in taste, but it’s not overhelming. Vaery good beer!

Chris O’s Fullers/Gales Tasting Feb 2012 . Toffee and fruit. Some carbonation. Rounded and pleasant. After the disaster of their first attempt (the 2007), Fullers have managed to produce a decent beer. Though it’s not quite the same as the beer produced by Gale’s, and I suspect that has a lot to do with the yeast and the brewing equipment.

Dark reddish brown colour with small tan head. Strong malt, dark fruits and sherry notes in aroma. Flavour is super heavy maltiness, caramel sweetness, dark fruitiness and mild hoppy bitterness. Alcohol warmth. Rich and heavy.

Bottle. Deep clear reddish-brown with a medium tight off-white head that quickly disappears. The nose is strong boozy christmas cake, like John O’Hara’s sweater the morning after. Some tobacco, rich toffee. Plenty malty. Cherries. The taste is tangy caramel, some woody vanilla, rum-soaked raisins. Hot finish. The alcohol isn’t well concealed. The beer’s a bit spicy, some notes of cocoa and jammy chutney. This beer drinks hot and must be sipped pretty slowly. Despite that, the beer feels a bit thin, the carbonation’s soft. Overall, not a particular favorite of mine. Decent, but there’s other beer’s that I’d like to warm myself with on a cold night.

This rating is for Zymatore Gale's Prize Old Ale. Part of the barrel aging Zymatore project, this beer was aged by the importer/distributor (United) in French Oak from Ransom Winery & Distillery in Oregon, which previously contained Pinot Noir. On tap at Pizza Paradiso in Georgetown, Washington, DC. Hazy, dark orange, brown with small head and fair lacing that recedes quickly. Aroma of cherries, yeast, malt and dark fruit. Sweet aroma. Taste of sour cherries, sweet dark fruit and malt. Nice balance of sweet and sour, but not much complexity. Light body and carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Brown colour with a medium-sized beige head. Malty aroma with caramel and dried fruits. Flavour is sweetish malt, caramel, toffee and dried fruits. Medium-bodied, some bitterness in the finish.

Bottled, 0.5l. Clear amber brown color, medium sized tan alike head and lively carbonation. Very rich aroma with strong notes of caramel, dried fruits and sherry, while hops are smelled only directly from the bottle. Sweet fruity start, followed by sherry hit in the head. Mouthfeel is warming, while finish is very lightly bitter. Full bodied with oily texture and lively carbonation in palate. Decent quality, but really too strong for my taste...

Pours beautiful ruby red color with small head. Aroma of fruits and barnyard notes. Flavor of sour fruits, plum and malts. A bit barley wine like brew, could have ageing potential.

Bottle @ chriso. 2008 vintage. Pours a clear ruby amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty toffee and dark fruit aroma. Sweetish malty toffee and dark fruit flavor. Has a sweetish malty toffee and dark fruit finish.

2011 Bottle @Trapissed’s house (my bottle) Dark amber with fruity sherry notes on the nose. In flavour its closer to rum with toffee, burnt sugar, caramelised apple plus some juicy pear. Its finishes with a fairly astringent bitterness.
