Commercial Description:
Bottle Conditioned.
Ingredients: Maris Otter and minute amounts of black malt; Fuggles, Goldings and Challenger.

It is reddish in color with hops and apple fruit on the nose, spicy and malty in the mouth, and a dry, even tart fruity finish with hints of raisins and apple.
The slow work of the yeast in the bottle may increase the alcohol content to 12% or even more. After several years of aging Prize Old Ale gains a more complex palate with Calvados like character. It is said that Prize Old Ale is at its best after 20 years of maturing.
Bottled as Milestones Pale Ale to celebrate the opening of the Milestones Museum.

Nohead, hardly any fuzzyness, on a very dark body. The taste reminds me of wine, but with the beer’s bitterness. Rich flavour, rather filling. Good for a good-night drink and a heavy meal. I felt quite elated after this beer.

2001 Bottle. Pours an amber color with a thin head. Some sediment present in the glass. Aroma is wine, fruit, and very sweet. Taste is of yeast, dried fruits and alcohol. This is a great beer.

Many thanks to Craig for this beer, bloody marvellous beer, cheers mate! Pours possibly dark ruby in colour, but poured in near darkness outside the camper in a field so difficult to be exact on that one, the head disappeared quickly. This is a real king amongst English beers, in fact I would say world class. I’ve had it before when it was in the old corked bottles and enjoyed it but didn’t realise just how damn good this was. First taste combines toffee, with a nice woody sourness, apple skins, sticky molassess, dark plums, prunes, really stunning. I can’t be arsed to write anymore I just want to drink this, cheers Craig you’re a star. I reckon that this may get even better with some age on it but I’m not sure that I could resist the temptation to keep cracking them open.

2007 Bottle BB 18/12/10. Pours slightly hazy amber with thin head. Sour, winey aroma of apples, red fruit, oak and vanilla. Instantly sour taste, without funkiness. Big body and almost balancing bitterness. Slightly roasted. Fruity sour finish.

Bottle 2007, 50cl - Copper burgundy colored beer with a beige frothy disappearing head. Aroma is very sweet with hints of nuts, full and fruity red wine and dried fruits. Flavor reminds very much of red wine and port. Notes of fruits are apparent combined with an apparent vinegar like acidity. Barely carbonated at all. Palate is good yet it feels very light considering it’s ABV. Would gain a lot if aged.

2007 bottle. Dark ruby red with a disappearing head. Good malty aromas with fruit. Fruity flavours, good offsetting bitterness. Alcohol. Very nice.
