3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ladnewton (917) - London, - SEP 6, 2010
Cask at the White Horse, Hertford on 3 September 2010. Clear amber with offwihte film of foam giving partial lacing. Aroma is quite hoppy and the main kick contains grassy hop and a briefly soapy taste, all rounded off by sweetish caramel malt notes. Bittersweet finish, citric and grassy but sweetness lingers on front of mouth; bitterness increases on back of mouth. Light, watery, cooling texture. Rather enjoyable.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 9, 2012
Hand pulled pint taken at the lovely ’Faltering Fullback’ in North London; Oct 2011: UK pint sleeve glass, unmarked. The beer was a pale copper colour, clear and bright. The head a good showing of off-white bubbles which settled and stayed. A lot better looking than the bottled version I reviewed some years back.
Good healthy aroma of hops and malts, no overpowering smell, just enough to let you know it’s a beer in your hand.
Very easy to drink, I had three pints and wanted more, but the wife needed food. A really good blend of flavours, like the nose nothing powerful, just a subdued pleasantness all round.

First tasted this at the Bull Inn, Paisley in August 1994. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear copper red in colour with a thick white head. Strong aroma of soft toffee notes. Thin but creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a robust digestive biscuit malt with a strong sweet flavour of Highland toffee full in the mouth. Slight prickle of dusty hops short in the aftertaste gives a slight earthy wet leaves note. Finish is sweet and malty with a hint of dry currants present in the mouth. An enjoyable session bitter

Low-impact simple bitter. Standard copper color with a modest white head that quickly dissipates. The nose is light, a little floral with some biscuity malts present too. The taste is lightly sweet, with a watery, simple finish. Refreshing enough.
