Aroma is sweet malts, earth, herbs, some mild toffee and mild berries and resiny notes as well. Flavour is mild nuttyness along with sweet malts, toffee, berries and some slight wooden and resiny notes. Quite bitter finish and gets a bit metallic when it warms up.

maeib (8574) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - JAN 5, 2008
Bottled. A dark copper coloured beer with no head. The aroma has cardboard with a bit of sweet sticky malt. Pretty hoppy and bitter taste. Again, obvious pasteurization, but above average for this type of beer.

Bottle from Sainsburys. Pale amber with a slight white head. The aroma and flavour contained some caramel, but hops weren’t evident and the finish was bland and abrupt. Hopefully England will do better this evening than Fullers have managed with this beer, which was very disappointing.

Amber with a white head. Couldn’t pick up much aroma. Possibly some malt as that is the predominant taste. Caramel at first, then a cardboardy background. Hardly any bitterness. Though from a bottle, it tastes like canned beer.
